No dynos this year and I really have no idea what the increase is if any. I did it primarily to create a safety overhead for all the other mods, not for power increase...ie, cooling the combustion charge (especially during nitrous injection), steam clean combustion chamber, increase effective octane level...or maybe I have A.D.D. Too bad I can't take advantage of such a system and dial in more boost with our SC...

Sid
Sid,
Thanks. I'll check them out on ebay. Understand completely about wanting the extra safety margin and agree. Wish we had as much opportunity to dial in more boost too.
My winter projects will be mostly around detailing. I ordered the black aero grill inserts to replace the red ones. Going to paint those side reflectors black in all probability. Little stuff like that. Need to get a boost gauge. Still trying to decide on which one and where to mount it.
Update: Besides the black grill which is done now, we're now going to do the Venom NO2 kit. and hopefully the boost and A/F gauges to match.

ok, now I'm going to spill the beans... I have just recently purchased this wonderful vehicle.. called a Datsun 510 with a Nissan CA18DET motor swap and WRX differential.. on 9 psi of boost it ran a 13.9, right now the boost is up to 20, I'm scared.. but.. before i race it, i have to replace a few items and rearrange the dash... and buy a few driveshaft loops. http://ffdet.com/members/rich/70Datsun510/For_Sale.htm... I will also be adding the highbeam lights back in and finding a rear bumper to put on it..

But before that project gets underway.. I have to replace the bottom motor mount on my Vader and also the VGS to get some streetability back to my MINI.. I am sure there are more things I am going to be doing.. just a matter of time..

this winter for me should be fairly busy...

Ive had the car for a month or two now, and so far added Borla Sport and an Alta intake with hose.

I have a 15 % Alta pulley and Unichip ready to go in once my puller shows up.

Plans for over the winter are to paint and re-assemble my 74 beetle. This has been ongoing for 3 years. Last weekend we finished up the wiring, and are now waiting for the body shop to come and pick it up. Should be back early January for me to re-assemble before spring.

As for the mini, putting in the pulley, remapping and installing the unichip, and hopefully find some cash to pick up springs and sway bar before spring.

2003 MCS: Replace header; consider WMS cat-back; a 3d set of wheels with Advan tyres; consider another gauge or two; a few bits and pieces from overseas

2003 RS6: Another application of Rejex

Get a job...

this winter projects will focus on handling and brakes:

1- H-sport springs
2- H-sport rear sway bar
3- nice set of stickies
4- Steel braided brake lines
5- brembo front and rear rotors (slotted and cross drilled)
6- Brake pads
7- painted calipers
8- front strut brace bar

this is all I can think of, next summer will start mods on drivetrain

one step at a time boys, one step at a time

So far I have a couple things lined up:

Parts Installs...
-Exhaust (either Milltek or Borla Race)
-Swaybar (probably H-sport, maybe Randy Webb's adjustable version...)

Small Projects
-Intercooler exaust routing project (trying to improve the airflow after the intercooler by smoothing its exit to the atmosphere via custom ducting).
-Roof Rack Covers that don't suck (going to machine some stainless steel screw-on covers)
- Custom Shift **** (From Solid Stainless Steel)

This spring is going to be tied up with wheels and tires (Probably 225/50/R15 Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2's with 15" Team Dynamics pro race 1's)

After one week of ownership, I had PSS9 and aftermarket wheels and tires installed, I've owned it since Sept 10th but didn't drive it much, my winter projects are:

Ported head, intake and SG, cam, both pulleys, air intake, header, exhaust, maybe a larger intercooler, oil catch can, 180 deg. thermostat, injectors, Iridium plugs, sway bar, basically everything but Turbo and NOs.

Soooo...what have you kids been up to lately? I've been frozen in for nearly a month...that time of years again Lucky charm brought me two bullseyes to each of my PIAA 540s one week apart just before I put her away Rather than spend $90 for replacement lens, I thought I try something else...a pair of IPF. Yup, the same 968 on the Alta light bars. They're a little bigger so just in case, I'm mounting a couple of stand offs from M7's splitters so they're structurally triagulated. I'll show you guys when Peter sends them to me in a few weeks

I've also finished a complete LED swap for all the bulbs that flash. Very cool...

In the mean time, I've been workin on my "laboratory" down in the basement...

Left side...more toys needed :

Right side:

Any takers as to what's in the middle?
BTW...the original "M" S-type wing from Msfitoy will be for sale...

My winter project is getting the cat spray/**** smell out of my garage so it does not stink up my car. It is going to be hard to leave my car in the snow.

Sid, I can't quite make-out what's in the middle...
I do see a couple Lotus 7 machines on the bottom shelf though . I've had a soft spot for the Caterham for quite some time, and was contemplating one very sersiously, but now that Ariel Atom has me pondering it...

I think Greg (onasled) will top us all with his Winter project . Me, nothing too major... I hope to lose my A/C, install a DFIC, end-links, 400 cc fuel injectors, and if the price is right, finally some front seats...

You're right Tony...no catching up to Greg...I can't even see him anymore. I hope he remembers me

Yes, what you see are two C7s that I built to keep me contained while saving for the real thing. They're hand built Tamyia 1/12 kits. Alas, between my wife "retiring" to raise kids and me changing jobs, I'm lucky to have a Mini to keep me sane

All the things I didn't get done last year....

1) Coated IC.
2) Adjustable End-Links
3) Mount M7 SC
4) Play with AGS
5) Corner balance and allign car
6) MTH tuner optimization.
7) Driving my Mustang convertable on nice winter days, with the top down.

Matt

(OK, I admit it, #7 was just put in there to really **** off people in the North East!)

Sid, in many ways it shows that you are a true artisan!

At least your wife was working. Mine was essentially retired before I met her... Sort of convinced me even more that it was indeed love . That's fine, just gotta get a bit creative sometimes to make things happen...

After seeing Matt's list, I'll add to mine, as I forgot something:

A/C removal
DFIC
adjustable end-links
400 cc fuel injectors
custom UNIChip tune
and hopefully some front seats

There's a rumor going around our house that Santa will be placing an Ultrik intake and Milltek exhaust under our tree.

At this rate, I'm thinking he might be planning to bring me a pulley next Christmas!

You guys are funny.
I have this reoccurring day dream that spring will come, the snow will melt and the track day chatter will begin to start up again ..... and I'm sitting in my shop with parts strun around and my feet tangled up in wiring harnesses. Head in my hand sobbing .... "why, why didn't I listen to my mother back when I was 10 years old ??"

Awwww poor onasled.....track withdrawal Perhaps you need to set your car up for ice racing

My new official "winter project" is to decide on and place an order for a 2006 MCS and find a nice new home for my cooper and all of the aftermarket parts that don't switch over to the new MCS. Even just choosing the right color seems like its gonna take forever

I'm building a one off Mini prototype...

Here are the rough specs:

1-Mid ship mounted motor
2-Hp ratio = 2.4lbs/hp
3-All wheel drive!

Let me guess, it also has a polycarbonate body, and plastic wheels?
