LSD Downsides

I'm thinking of putting a LSD in. We all talk about the upsides of having one but are there any downside ?

Also depends on what type of LSD you are talking about... and how it is set up internally.

Thanks guys,
I pretty sure I'd like to get a Quaife. I never had a LSD in a front wheel drive car , just rear drivers which is a whole different thing. Is there any reason not to go with that ?

I like the Quaif also... but am leaning towards another brand .... WaveTrac.

For me, with a stiff setup (Ohlins R&T, 18's, swaybars etc).... wheel lift in real-world road driving.... The wave-cam to me makes sense.

For me.... I think that this ATB-type LSD is the best fit.... for ME, better than a clutch type LSD.

I've found this WaveTrac 56.309.190WK for as low as $800-ish online

Interesting Vid for the Quaif... same general concept but without the cam/wave:

I literally just put a Wavetrac diff in my car this weekend. Changes the whole power delivery of the car. Granted I'm Stage 3 and I should have had an LSD long ago but for me it actually makes my first gear usable.

I went with Wavetrac over Quaife. From what I understand they are very similar in design and you will probably be happy with either. Both are geared LSDs, not clutch type, so no need to worry about internals wearing. The main difference is the Wavetrac has the ability to bias torque to one wheel even if the other wheel has zero traction (as in one wheel is up in the air, or if you snap an axle). Obviously these are very extreme use cases, but they were about the same price and I liked the added feature.
