Anyone have experience installing these? How much more oil capacities? How much did your oil temperatures drop by?

History

history repeating itself, as this was a common approach in the 80s to increase capacity and reduce temps. Too big though and they get damaged with lower clearance.

would love this to work and be around $400!!

Really....I'm lowered about an inch and I have a GP2 belly pan, so I'm not sure it would work....be nice for autocrosses and track days, too. For $400 I'd give it a try though.

Found some info

Found this on a Peugeot 208 forum. It looks like the baffling isn't very significant.

http://www.208ownersclub.co.uk/forum...topic4188.html

"I found this from Wortec that was made for R56 Mini, owners of 208 GTi in Taiwan told me that this is a perfect fit. Hold 0.5L more oil and fins help dissipating heat a little more, also there is baffles around the oil pump. There are also some pre-drill holes for sensors, return line from the catch can and extra oil cooler.

But the bad news is that they're very rare nowsdays, I found no reputable online shops have them anymore. I barely managed to find one from a Taiwan dealer with a taiwanese friend's help."

I found this Moroso baffle for a Honda S2000....couldn't find anything from Moroso that would fit a MINI. Checking with Summit and Moroso to determine if this baffle could be modified to fit out engines.

Vivid Racing contacted Wortec. Wortec's response-

"Here is the info I was provided by Wortec.

Approximate 1.8-2cm ground reduction.it adds approximately 0.7-0.8 quart.

The final capacity also depend on if he's running any external oil cooler.

Please let me know if you would be interested in a quote. "

I don't have much ground clearance as it is...will have to measure it, but 3/4 of an inch might not be possible for me.

.78 inch ground clearance is a lot to give up but manageable if the car is not slammed on coil overs. The possible benefits are very encouraging - more oil, lower temp and not ally of downside. Given todays technology, its hopeful that these do not LEAK. Surely this is what plagued the early efforts of Otteinger, ABT and others tuners in the euro scene 80's/90's. $600 is still steep for many - it seems like $400-450 would be a price that would make these more appealing.

I may pull the trigger on this. I will post up pics and my buying experience when the time comes.

Cast aluminum does not bend. Hit something & it will break like an eggshell. I sure wouldn't be comfortable driving with that thing waiting for the first hit.

Good point

Good point. However many current production Audi and Vw use cast aluminum pans. The capacity and temp of their turbo engines demand it. They are not as deep though.
All depends on suspension mods and the use of the car.

Did you ever pull the trigger on this?
