Are blow off valves used on Supercharged applications? I have never heard of that. The Eaton SC on the Mini does have a bypass valve built in though.

On a second note, how does Gennex get to use photos of my car, that I personally took, and then post them on their sales website and stamp the photo with their trademark?

GENNEX Motorsport

IT appears that this Taiwanese company has "access" to products that we do not have over here. Take a look:

Claimed M7 Twinscrew
http://www.gennexmotorsport.com/main.php?car=1&id=58

A ripoff PILO rear stress bar
http://www.gennexmotorsport.com/main.php?car=1&id=134

The whole site just doens't seem kosher to me, what do you think?

MSFITOY is right - it's not appropriate to base your perspective of a country based on one companies ethics and rumors of knock-off watches. I'm sure there are PLENTY of examples of both here in the U.S.

I feel compelled to chime-in here as well...

I have been to Taiwan several times, the first time was in '95 to do some research for my thesis. I lived there a little over 3 months. I was there most recently this past spring for the Chinese version of my wedding. I have had the good fortune to have worked with several companies and institutions in Taiwan, many of which were top-notch, a couple were not. I can certainly say the same for here (the US).

With that said, intellectual property is a relatively new principle (including its enforcement) in Asia and it is now getting more attention, which is good...

My memories of Taiwan, its people, and their fight for recognition will always be in my heart. If there is a beef with a company there, let's not generalize, assume or draw conclusions beyond that poor example.

Do any of you guys still have contacts in Taiwan? Perhaps someone who can pay a friendly visit to Kenny Lin to let him know we don't appreciate his "business" tactics?

Andy, where did you get that address? With my wife's help, the address seen at the bottom on this page states that they are in "Chong Li," which is in Northern Taiwan, about 30 minutes from Taipei.

http://www.gennexmotorsport.com/X.html

When I was out there several months ago, I actually made some time to swing by the place to check-out their shop... The town in your address is near central to Southern Taiwan. Maybe they have offices...

Either way, when I go back to Taiwan, I will go by and visit them again.

I'm Polish, but it doesn't stop everyone from bashing us. By the way did you hear about the Polish Kamikazee who flew 48 successful missions?

What matters to me is that Gennex stole images from my website and used them without my permission to shill their crap. How would that make you feel? Others have had the same experience. Please search before defending your shady, sketchy plagiarizing friends.

I apologize if anyone took offense at my remarks. I am under the impression that there is a serious ongoing problem with getting the Taiwanese government and corporations to recognize and enforce international intellectual property rights laws. I am also under the impression that things like DVD and software piracy problems are rampant there - from the individual consumer, through under-the-counter and black market operations, to "legitimate" corporations. As someone who made his living as a freelance writer for more than a decade (and saw my work plagiarized on a few occasions), I'm sensitive to intellectual property issues.

My comment was meant to convey my impression that the sort of problems noted in this thread (taking other people's graphs and photos and work and putting your own logo on it with no attribution or permission) shouldn't be surprising in this sort of business climate.

After reading Misfitoy's and Ryephile's remarks, I can see how someone might have feel like I was making a racist remark or denigrating the Taiwanese as a people. That wasn't my intention at all and I apologize if anyone felt insulted!

I am feeling very embarrassed!

I see now. The shop I visited near Taipei is maybe just a remote set-up. The garage had room for a couple MINI's (it was full), and merchandise was limited to the available space on the floor, and a few items hanging on the wall...

Good ole NSOL! I made some nice money on that stock quite a few years ago .

I am glad that you are happy with your fan club, but that does not change the fact that Gennex has repeatedly *STOLEN* the work of other people, put their own logos on images, and used those images to sell their crap. Perhaps you don't mind behavior like that from a business, but I do.

Gennex = shady, sketchy plagiarists.

LombardStreet, very nice and classy!

I saw your initial response and chose to make nothing of it, but can see how others might. I simply added my 2 cents to make sure that this baby didn't go down the wrong path (it was starting to)... and remained focused on Gennex practices for which there are some legitimate concerns.
