Drivetrain MC Intake Install Today
OctaneGuy, I cleaned my K&N (drop in) filter last week and it was very easy using the Cleaner spray first and then the Oil spray later (after lightly hosing off the detergent stuff). As you know, the K&N oil spray is pinkish/purple. You might check with S&B which also makes washable filters (although I don't think they have one for the MINI yet). But maybe you can get their cleaning kit which works exactly as the K&N. However, the color of the oil may not be blue as you would prefer.
03Indigo: were those Magnecor spark plug wires (red 8.5mm) or were they painted OEM? I have a set of Magnecors yet to be installed. Does pulling those wires require any special tool, or do you just grab the rubberized tip and pull them out? TIA. And those "after" pics are really cool.

The cables are aftermarket, not painted OEM at all. And yes, you just pull the round black section going into the head, and they come out...no tools required what so ever....easiest engine mod to do.
thanks for the comments on my shots.

as far as uploading pics, once you found a place to act as your server, just enter the URL for it between (img)URL(/img), but use square brackets in place of the ones I used.
hope that helps

Thanks for the info Indigo. The CAI I use goes down in that space between the tranny and the radiator. My first intake was the BMP style; but on hot days it would get heat soaked and what little power we have
would be gone. So I made the one that is on the car now.

Not to deflate the high hopes of all those people (myself included) who use K&N, but here is an interesting link to some discussion on K&N's gauze filters versus foam type filters. Bottom line: the silica filtering is not as good as foam type.
After reading it, I intend to continue using mine. It gave me smoother acceleration from 1st gear. Next month, another post-25k-mile-service long trip plus a cleaned K&N filter will be my acid test for performance and fuel economy.

if this doesn't work, please post your message and I will give you a longer URL link.

Randy did my construction too..Maybe I will let you
decorate my engine compartment someday. You have good taste. I have a blue intake, some red would look nice, then a little white and some stars..

Not sure if you did the install yet, but it's super simple. I did my Magnecors yesterday in a few minutes. Just pull them out--wiggle them. Do it while the engine is cold of course and not running.
