Best Price for Odyssey PC680??

Basically this is the best price i've been able to find for it and wondering if anybody found a better deal??

http://www.gotbatteries.com/Productp...ctNum=37L105S5

$72 bucks plus the terminals. I've seen it at alot of other places for $85, anything better? Thanx!

Not an exact comparison, but I bet this will be very comparable. When I was shopping for one almost 2 years ago, this was the best deal going (I got it, and still have it):

http://www.gotbatteries.com/ProductP...ctNum=37L105S1

It doesn't include the terminals though. I "made" mine very easily for like 5 bucks... The price will end-up about the same I suppose. I do prefer the black color of this one over the orange.

Oh, I got there via this really cool article:

Enjoy!

Great resource Tony! I gotta find some time or a printer so i can read that article all the way through. So far i kind of like that it says the two batteries are essentially the same so i may be able to get the cheaper one. I just want to double check to make sure there are absolutely no differences before i make the plunge.

Thanx!

Weight savings!

I would run out and weigh the stock battery but i'm afraid of what that would do to all my cars settings i got from the dealer. If the memory is not affected by removing the battery i'll weigh it asap.

But i'm guessing you can lose a good 20-30 lbs by swapping to this battery and you'll probably gain a nice lil hidden storage under the hatch lining hehe.

Ohh and when you combine this with an aftermarket exhuast or oneball custom exhuast setup you lose another 20lbs. Rather lose that weight off the front but hey, anyway you can get it!

The battery works fine for the car without any problems?

What about cold starts below freezing in winter or harsh summer conditions?

According to Sport Compact Car on their Project Mini, Found here:

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/pr.../0307scc_mini/

They say it works fine, now they are in SoCal and i'm in Miami so we don't have to worry about Freezing temperatures which i think would be much harder on it than summer temperatures.

I'm guessing that article posted above might have some information on how it handles different temperatures. Being Drycell i'm guessing it handles it better than normal batteries? Again i know squat about batteries.....

Glad the link is helpful. As far as temperature goes, heat is the real killer for these SLA batteries, at least according that article. And given the MCS's battery location (not in the engine bay), this is a good thing.

Oh, the stocker weighs 34 pounds, making for a 20 lb savings. Lose the battery box clearing the path for a straight exhaust, and weight-saving become much more...

This will give you an idea of what I've done. I probably have better pictures somewhere...

The only drawback of this battery is that you really can't sit somewhere parked (engine off) listening to some tunes for an extended length of time...

What about...

Reviving this for a question... The batt faq makes my head spin.

Ok, so a single SLA batt doesn't give one the luxury of running one's stereo with engine off for a few hours... What if one were to run 2 of them in parallel?

Is there any concern with this model only having 220A Cold Cranking Amps (CCA)?

How ironic! I couldn't start my MINI this morning - dead battery. With doing a couple gauge installs last weekend, and not driving her for nearly a week, I guess that was a bit too much. I'll charge it up tonight and monitor from there. One of the gauges was a voltmeter . Having two of these (parallel) sort of defeats the purpose of losing the weight. The stocker is like 35 pounds... and two of these would be 27. A good weekend folks!

Tony - please let us know if a recharge was all that's necessary... or did the batt die. Thanks!

The battery is fully charged at this moment (nearly 1am), so I'll hook her up in the morning. I'm sure it will work just fine. The question will be how long will it retain the charge, if indeed there is a problem. I do know that the MINI charges at around 14 to 14.5v, so I will monitor things...

With a recent thread on this topic, I re-found this one...

Just as a matter of further follow-up, the battery has been fine for a couple of months now. Letting these guys sit for a while is not good. If so, I'd get some type of trickle charger. The 25 buck solar ones should fit the bill quite nicely...
