Drivetrain intercooler fan
intercooler fan
I have a front mounted intercooler on my turbo miata and have no problems keeping the charge cool. As we know however, the MCS ic location is not the best due to engine heat and the small hood scoop. I wonder if mounting an electric pancake fan above the ic would help? This seems like a low cost experiment, I'll let you know how it works out.

Tom,
I think that would only help when you are sitting still, in which case there is not a lot of need for power. Once the car gets moving with the air to air intercooler, the temperature drops quite quickly.

I use a nitrous intercooler spray ring on my wrx with a top mount intercooler.
Works wonders in 90F+ weather when I need to launch the car.
I believe Pilo has as a similar kit for the MCS.

It is a good idea, but fitment will be a serious challenge. Launch temps are a real challenge, especially at the strip. If you do a burnout, you jack the intercooler temps way up, as you are not moving. External water sprayers are not an option at the strip either.
