Drivetrain Trailing Arm?
Trailing Arm?
Hi everybody:
a little acciden has left me with a bent control arm... while the dealer told me it'd be ok that i won't feel it im beginning to wonder should i spend the 600 cdn for a replacement or look for aftermarket trailing arm
is this a trailing arm? i do not want to spend so much money with somethin that is falsely advertised.. since i've never seen anyone post anything on trailing arms pls give me any advice! if i get these they'd be cheaper than installing the factory ones

man, I'm not that familiar with susp. parts, but what your looking at buying are adjustable Control arms. I don't think the Trailing arm is adjustable at all.
If your looking into the Driver's side wheel well, it would be the arm on the left side of the brake rotor running from left to right behind the brake rotor. good luck man.

kyriian,
You have to tell us front wheel or rear wheel? The prominis are for the rear wheels. They sell all four or just the lower two. They are what you're thinking of. The stock ones are silver and kind of a dog bone shape.

If you need rear lower control arms then some of us that have upgraded would have left over stock parts that we could part with.
So just check to see what parts you really need.
Front vs rear
upper arms vs lower arms.
Trailing arms are also called control arms ( in the rear there are four total)

The trailing arm should not be the control arm.
The trailing arm is the one that links the wheel hub to the mount which is located in front of the rear wheel to the frame. The control arms support the trailing arm.

in the rear, the wheel moves up and down using the "trailing arm" as a linkage. (it is called "trailing" because the pivot is in front of the tire contact patch pvoding a caster affect...a similar arm in the front suspension has the contact patch in front of the pivot, as far as I can tell, that one is called a control arm). Both the pivot location for the trailing arm (slightly adjustable due to a slotted plate) and the relative control arm length affect rear toe; rear camber can be set by adjusting the top control arm differently than the bottom.
In the rear, there is no steering action; there the "control arms" are linkages to maintain the alignment staically and during suspension movement.
In the front, the "tie rods" connect the steering rack to the wheel hubs; in addition to providing the steering action linkage, the tie rods control the front toe. Camber and caster in the front are set by moving the top of the strut in the fender mount location.
