Removing central gold bolt on TSW/WMW R53 polyurethane upper motor mount?

http://www.waymotorworks.com/tsw-eng...6-r50-r53.html

I just had a question, I had this installed on my car but I had the VIP custom parts engine stabilizer on my car already. They removed the VIP and installed the TSW. I don't want to throw away the VIP as it still works and even though both items do similar things when hooked up to the strut mount, I was just wondering if I remove the gold top down bolt on the TSW mount, is there a potential to dislodge anything while I attempt to install the VIP if the car is sitting flat on the floor? Please advise!

I'd support the engine with a jack just to be safe.

I'm a somewhat experienced amateur but I'm no pro. All I have are some car ramps and a hydraulic Jack amongst numerous hand tools. Where under the engine should I place the Jack? Any specific point under the car?

Put a chunk of wood on your jack and support the engine under the oil pan (like a 2x4 to distribute the weight evenly across the pan).

Be prepared that the engine will shift a few mm if you remove the bolt. You may have to man-handle and jiggle the engine back to line up. It could require 2 people to finesse it pack into position (I had a wonderful time putting my vibratechnics mount in by myself)

But I must be missing something... please let me know if I'm wrong...
This looks like the stock "redesigned" engine mount.
What are you using the VIP engine stabilizer for? What year is your car?

Woops, sorry, didn't realize when I post through my phone my sig line doesn't show up. My I own a 2005 MCS. The VIP basically prevents the engine from rocking too much. First part on this page.

Well smack me sideways and call me Susan...

Yup, that looks like it'd be fine, I wasn't aware they made that system for the 05's.
I may even consider getting one for mine.

My original comment still stands. The engine will rock slightly (forward/backward) when you remove the bolt - even when supported from below.

So when you're putting it all back together once you have the VIP plate on top, will probably require one person to grab the back of the engine (where the Oil filter is) and pull/rock towards the front of the car in order to index the engine mount's bolt hole.

I had to wrestle with engine when I installed my VT mount. This will be a bit different but the concept will likely be the same.

Good luck and post pics when completed.

The TSW has a dog bone rather than a bracket like the oem mount. The VIP sits on top of the mount.

VIP satbilizer:

You can slightly see the bracket on the oem mount where the dog bone of the TSW goes.

With the stock mount, not really. The TSW is stiffer so it kinda cancel the need for the VIP.

there is a dogbone included with that, i thought this was the same in essence as the VIP, did you get the correct TSW mount?

You can see it in my picture (the first one, which is my car). The VIP stabilizer bolts on top of the mount and have different mounting points.

Yeah, I know that the TSW and VIP dog bones pretty much do the same thing but I had teh VIP first and I don't want to throw it away, so I figure why not just put it back where I had it even though I will basically have two parts doing the same thing. I guess you could call a slight difference as one is below and one is above the mounting point? Either way, if I do get them both on there, that engine is NOT moving on that side of the car

Also, when I look at the TSW on there as it is(check the TSW photo for reference), the more I am not getting how the engine would rock back/forth if all I am doing is removing the gold top bolt? The car is not on any ramps or jackstands therefore the all the cars angles are at 'neutral.' I could understand if I had the car on a jack /ramp then the engine would move to a different angle but wouldnt the weight of the engine keep everything in place?

Lo and behold, poster Dr. Phil Gandini already did what I was thinking but he did it without the dogbone connection to the strut mount. This is what I was thinking it was going to look like/trying to achieve.

i dont think the engine would move much if you undid the bolt, since the engine will still be sitting on the mount, the friction would hold it in place, but with excessive engine moving, im sure it would move the mount and youd have to jack the motor up and realign it
