Custom fabricated exhaust

Well, like many of you I've been weighing my options as to which exhaust I wanted to go with for quite a while. I heard miltek, Alta, Borla, magnaflow, and a few others and while I liked a couple a lot I had issues with the cost. I finally decided to go down to the exhaust guy that did a custom set up on my camper van and see what he thought. Well, long story short a couple of hours and my wallet $260 lighter I had a custom cat-back exhaust. Its essentially 2.5" pipe with a glass pack on each side. Sounds mean, deep at idle with plenty of burble and pop when you let off throttle. Gets fairly loud during acceleration with very little drone at highway speeds. Volume wise its similar to a Borla race system.

you could have ditched the Y pipe and did a single pipe around the passnger side rear with 2 tips at the end, it would have sounded better, been cheaper, and lighter. Other than that your exhaust guys looks like he does decent work.

I almost did go with one muffler on the passenger side but my exhaust guy thought it would sound better and flow about the same. On the note of flow, the good ol butt dyno senses a definite difference. Throttle response is a touch quicker for sure.

I'll post up video as soon as I can drag my wife away from her homework long enough to film a fly by and a few different ranges like idle on up. I'm personally very happy and amazed at the job my exhaust guy did

BUMP for video! Considering glasspacks on my R53. Or battery box delete + R56 catback.

Or battery box delete + custom glasspacks exhaust. Idk... HELP.

I did a lot of mucking around with my exhaust before I got it to a stage where I like it. The video doesn't really do it justice but will give you a bit of an idea. It has a good balance between hearing the blower and the exhaust and has a very nice back off crackle when it's driven.
