I had it a while back... was too loud and droned too much 4me.

Minihune currently still has it( I believe ?)... and he likes it .
He would be a person to contact directly & he would be glad to give you his input

I drove an MCS with the Quicksilver cat-back once upon a time; interior cabin resonance was totally unacceptable. Beyond that, it sounds tinny and raspy from outside the car too. I'd say the only positives of this system is that it'll lighten both your car and your wallet quite effectively.

That's my $0.02

Really? That's hard to believe because mine has no drone whatsoever. If it did I wouldn't love it because volume and comfort was a big issue for me. I didn't want an exhaust that was going to be obnoxiously loud, especially not on the inside! As for the tiny/raspy thing, mine sounds very DEEP and off throttle has an amazing burble sound. Not as deep as a magnaflow I have heard, that is just unbearable and ridiculously loud for me. I was hesitant on just buying ANY exhaust as I wanted to make sure I wouldn't roll home at 2am waking up neighbors. It doesn't get loud unless you get on it. My main goal for the exhaust wasn't specifically the sound but the power, but I knew I had to trade-off some volume, but the power increase feels amazing, really freed things up, especially with this pulley. The sound just turned out to be amazing as a bonus I guess. I'm glad to say that 9/10 people who have heard my exhaust have LOVED it, it just sounds like nothing else. I also am fine with the look of the tip, it flows quite well with the lines of the car. Lightening the car up is a big goal for me so when there are single sided exhaust systems, why not go for those. As for the price, that truly kept me back from getting it for a while because $800 is just insane, but I don't know, all these exhaust systems for the mini cost hundreds! Luckily, a group buy for it came along at $650, I jumped and took advantage. Maybe you could start another one and ask people on the MINI2 forums as well. If you want to know something specific about the exhaust, ask away and I'll let ya know. Lay out what you want or don't want from an exhaust (power, sound type, volume, look, weight, price) and that will help narrow your choices significantly. Oh and another thing, try the search again, I had a long review when I first installed it I believe, and there gotta be some other opinions on it, or else I wouldn't have gotten it, hehe.

I was looking to get that one at first too. But Ive heard about this drone issue,
fitment issues, no gasket in the kit, heavily behind schedule with backlogs, I
waited and waited but just spent a few hundred more and got the milltek.

I too think that single oval design is pretty cool!

Thank you each for your responses. I just took delivery a week and a half ago of the car - enjoying it immensely. I have read so much on the exhaust debates, it's just amazing. I want the improved breathing (already have the Alta Intake), love the Tip, the weight is a bonus, proper fit a must, but am looking for a "real" exhaust note... louder than stock (NOT like all the lowered 1987 Nissan Maxima's sitting on 20's). I have traded up to my new Mini from a 2002 M Coupe, but I loved it's exhaust tone. Again - thanks for the input.

Hello all,

De-mini-ero says it best, the drone is the enemy.

We have recently introduced two new Exhaust System and looking to make mini owners aware.

We have no current plans to release dyno figures..

We would prefer to rebate the customer $$$ towards dyno runs as long as he or she would be willing to dyno and post their figures on this board.
In short, we are looking for active forum members to, try em and tell it like it is.

Otherwise, we could ask Randy to test them but I am not sure when he could get to them?

We think that ultimately they will stand on their own or not.

Anyhow, If anyone is interested in more details let me know.??

I don't get it, my exhaust doesn't drone and it just sounds very "normal" (read: stock-like) from the inside. Passengers say you can't even tell you've done anything when riding around, and it's true, it's very comfortable. I must say though the car was a bit different in some way the first few days but i sensed after about 400 miles it had completely broken in and all it got was mellower. I dunno, that seems like a very temporary thing though.. I'm just surprised people are experiencing drone, am i just lucky? haha. Maybe the tip was too far behind the bumper or something and resonating between the panels.. but mine isn't really stick out either (it's flush) unless you really heat it up (drive HARD). So yeah, that's interesting stuff.

I had the QS for about 6 months and gave it up to have an all Milltek header and cat-back system.
It was a hard decision. If I had to do it all over again I think I would have choosen QS with stock exhaust header due to the low weight (21 pounds), good power, not too loud exhaust note from inside and out, minimal drone-sure there was a little but I know how to minimize it with using gearing and throttle and unique nice single oval tip. I kept mine in great shape and sold it for half price to another MCS owner in my area who also likes it.

So why did I get the Milltek header and exhaust? It's powerful and quiet. The problem was I had the QS only then added the Milltek header and found the noise got alot louder both inside and out. It wasn't that bad but I had to make a choice of selling the header or buying the Milltek exhaust. So I'd added some HP and torque by having the full Milltek system but I also gained 12 pounds.

Both options are good in my opinion. Stock header with QS only is a great option. However if you plan to add a pulley, Throttlebody, larger intercooler, etc then don't go with the QS since it is too restrictive (on airflow) for an all out modded MCS. You'd be better off with a UUC, Magnaflow, Borla Race, or Milltek.

For the time I had the QS I really liked it and I was the only MCS in Hawaii with that exhaust that I knew of. Since then I have seen more. Quality was first rate, My fitment was good and I had no problems with hanging it in the center. The new owner reports that it fit and worked well for him as well.
