I got a chance to hear both systems and like them both. Do I go with less cost and HP or more expensive but also more performance. Will I be able to tell the difference in performance? Is the Milltek really worth the extra $250 dollars? Opinions, suggestions?

It depends somewhat on the mods that you either have currently or are planning on for the future. If you just have the exhaust, I would probably buy the one that is less expensive. If you are planning more mods later on down the road, it might be better to go with the Milltek. Many variables to consider.

I didn't screw around and just Milltek-ed it.

Get the header too, while you're at it.

I went with the Scorpion because I seriously doubted the Milltek or any of the other expensive systems out there offered better performance. This is evident by an educated design analysis and I haven't seen any independent or scientifically conclsuive evidence to say otherwise.

Current mods-
CAI
15% pulley
Denso IK22 plugs
Magnecore wires
MSD coil
Unichip
Lots of suspension stuff

I don't plan on adding anything else this year but at some point will add larger intercooler and throttle body. No plans for a header at this point. This is still my daily driver (except for snow) so all mods need to be livable during the daily commute. Thanks for the input.

The horsepower ratings have been discussed a ton on this site. No one is offering objective evidence of the performance of these exhaust systems. Everyone is going by Randy's numbers, which are a risk. It is well known that his numbers are optimistic. Also, no one else has shown any numbers. My feeling is that most of the exhausts produce around the same hp. If the miltek really produced the numbers that were touted by Randy, the performance should be at least half of what we see with the pulley and there is no way that is really happening. I don't think you should get the exhaust for the power aspect. I really think the sound is one of the key components of the exhaust as well as the price.

If you are only doing street driving with occasional track or autocross then either exhaust will work just fine.
Therefore it comes down to price and looks and a sound that you can live with.

I don't think you can tell the difference due to the other mods you've done. It will be close enough so that the price will be in the favor of the scorpion. A difference of 3 or 4 HP is not detectable once you are in the 200 HP range which you are.

If I were you I'd go for the scorpion and save the $250 for driving school or when ready replacement tires down the road.

Good luck and happy motoring.

sanddan,

I would agree with what both dgszweda and minihune say. With that in mind and also because I didn't want to spend much more money, I opted to go with the one-ball option. Less than $50 at the local muffler shop and I truly believe it to be as effective as any of the systems out there and on weight-reduction, it beats them all.
All with a slightly harder edged, raspier note that does not drone.

No hard numbers and I wish I could find some nice looking, inexpensive tips, but well worth the money!

sanddan,

If they were both the same price and same power, which would you choose (based on sound, appearance, etc)?

The sound is a toss up. I like the look of the scorpion tips better. The down side is I just got off the phone with Bavarian Motorsports and they are currently out of stock. They won't be in until the end of May.
