removing turbo, any diys out there?

In the process of removing the k03 to have sent out and upgraded and do a bunch of other junk (timing chain tensioner, valve cleaning, oil line, stereo upgrade etc) so the car is already apart. Pulled the downpipe off today to give me some room to work. Cant figure out for the life of me how im going to get to the exhaust manifold studs. It looks kind of like the manifold needs to come out to remove the turbo but it also looks like the turbo needs to come off to get to them. I dont have any manuals for the car so am just doing the best I can with what I can figure out. This isnt my first job like this, but my first on transverse engine and working in areas this tight.

Does anyone have any idea on this or link to a diy for something similar? Car is an 07 mcs 6 speed.

Thanks in advance

Looks like the way you are attacking it is similar to the way I went in but looks like you didnt have to pull the manifold off. How did you get to the bolts on the turbo that back up against the head? It looks like I might be able to get them if it wasnt for the lip of that heat shield getting in the way. Was thinking about cutting it out of the way. Thanks in advance

It's a lot easier if you put the car in "service mode"

The whole front end slides forward, allowing you to access everything you need to.

Service mode is worth the time it takes to move the front end. It makes work so much easier on that side of the engine!
