I recently got a copy of the Moss Motors Mini accessories catalog and one of the first things to appear was the spark plug wires and coil mentioned in the subject. They boast 250 Ohms per wire and "have yielded consistent 0-60 MPH times up to 1 second quicker".

Anyone use these? Any value here?

Doug

Ask them for timeslips.

Shaving a second off 0-60 times is a ludicrous claim for plug wires and coilpack.

I agree with Andy- As I understand it... the coil pack is a waste of money. However I did research it a bit... As for wires... Seems to be a little much for some color in the enigne. Also as I understand it... the MINI comes stock with the NGK spark plugs... Maybe Andy can confrim that as well as upgrading the wires... If it has any affect... taking a second off the 0-60 time.... Thats a stretch.

Forget light speed...

TAKE IT UP TO LUDICROUS SPEED!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure this coil pack doesn't do much. My wife and I used to have a 98 Eclipse GS, that has the same coil pack system. I've chatted on forums about the screamin deamon coil pack, and most people there said it's a waste. Maybe more spark, but shoddy construction as the mounting "studs" where the wires attach would snap off.
No thanks!

Cutting 1 second off a 0 to 60 MPH test of 8.3 seconds would be FANTASTIC.

That's about a 14% decrease in 0-60MPH time.

Would that translate into a 14% increase in HP?
That would be a 15HP gain on a base Cooper

Show Andy the numbers!

Aftermarket plugs and wires do help, especially if you have 20k miles or so on your car. More than anything, the new plugs and wires make a difference because they are now rather than the fact that they look cool or are made of some special material.

When I upgraded my wires and plugs after 22k miles, I noticed a little bit of improvement, but the most noticeable change is that my wires are now red

>> colored plug wires help add color and personality to the engine bay (if you're into that thing - I am).

Someone posted a long long time ago a reference for high-temperature colored wire braiding and shrinkwrap.

It looked very colorful and cost something like $2.00

Let's see if I can find something here.....

Oh, I think it was just colored heatshrink.........

Red 3/4 Inch heat shrink from DigiKey

If you want to go to Malta to pick up your tubing. (I'll sure go if you want me to) Heat shrink in colors

Bunches of looms at Cable organizer

How about those for some dress-up suggetions to save you some money?
