Turbo is now sitting at UPS, it will ship out Wed. As for the rest of the car if my friend is up to it tonight we might be doing the exhaust manifold.

So I was wondering about turbo heat shields. I really don't like the stock one but, I have seen aftermarket one but, the only protect up top. Does anyone know of one other than the one WMW offers or one that would be good to use to protect the plastic around the compartment?

Is there a link to the shield you speak of?

As far as i know the Turbo wrap is the only alternative. I removed the stock heatshield and was running an NM one for a while. Then my Valvecover melted and caught on fire during a lap around the Nurburgring.

Did you put the stock heat shield back on?

Also I forgot to tell everyone I got the manifold off last night but haven't taken pictures yet. I will do that when I get back to the car.

I was just wondering without the stock one on there if it would cause any melting or other heat problems

Honestly I have no idea if it would...but it does make a difference heat wise. Might be safe to just throw the stock one back on over the wmw wrap because the downpipe gets scorching hot and the stocker does cover over that as well. Don't want to risk melting the valve cover or anything like that ya know?.

If you don't live in a really wet climate you can use heat wrap, or if you want to spend the cash get a thermal coating.

Ugh, I have done the turbo and manifold removal twice now. The second time went significantly faster due to more knowledge and service mode. If I were you, just throw it in service mode real quick. Only takes about 20 minutes.

So here are some pictures of the manifolds together,

I also put the new oil lines on this evening but, forgot to take pictures of those so that will be tomorrow when I put the new manifold on and start with the meth kit.

I'm guessing the cleaner, silver manifold is the new one.

The holes in the new one look smaller and the two seem to be the same shape. The new one does look a little lighter. How is it supposed to give you any gains if the holes are smaller? Or is it just the pictures?

The new is the silver and it has smoother holes, better runners, and it is lighter.

See, my JCW already had the newer type on it. Thats actually the EU type of manifold. It gives noticeable gains if you are moving over from the US version.

It is my next mod. So it is the Euro/EU JCW manifold?
