It's fine other than the inlet being too large for normal intake elbows. The wastegate is now adjusted correctly.
I have my old "S" turbo I can rip the cold side housing off of if you want to see if it works/trade?

Thanks but I ended up switching to the Alta 42/56 turbo.

Since I'm planning on switching to the JCW turbo soon I just wanted to confirm something. Everyone that has done this appeared to keep the stock hose from the turbo to the air cleaner but one of the earlier post someone mentioned the K&N air cleaner hose won't work but the NM will. If the K&N fits the stock S turbo why won't it fit the JCW? Thanks for clearing this up.

I got a oem JCW turbo and the K&N typhoon CAI. It fitted just about perfect. For me the stock inlet hose wouldn't fit the oem JCW turbo.

I have had mine tuned with ssptuning and have been very satisfied. Everything is working great over the winter car pulling 18-19 psi to redline.

Any implications for the automatic transmission on a Cooper S if switching to a JCW turbo? Can the tranny handle the extra torque?

In your case, I would be asking if there is a way to changing the shift points to make it more drive-able. Is there a tune which can do that, or will it just adapt on its own

Update on mine. I switched to the Manic stage 3 tune for the JCW turbo and wow what a difference than the last tune. Part throttle is way better and it's nice having the coolant temps down to the 180 range. I installed a AEM meth kit and it's finally working but I'm switching to the HFS-3 system and returning the AEM.

No special concerns. The auto will take a lot of abuse. One of my first clients had a fully built N14, large K04 hybrid, water meth and an automatic. Two and a half years later and it's still going strong. I do recommend you replace the fluid if it has over 40k miles. That lifetime fluid claim from Mini is BS. Other than that your only problem is going to be traction lol. Also, no need for changing the shift points. The JCW turbo starts loosing steam around 6k but you should still be around 18 to 19 psi at 6500.
