Drivetrain Need new upper engine mount - VibraTechnics?
Finally received my Vibra Technics mount and tackled the install yesterday.
A few observations:
Had to move a small wiring bundle away from the mount so that the lateral mounting point could be obtained.
The VT mount is taller than the OEM by 1/4" - 1/2" neccessitating raising the engine higher to get the mount bracket to mate to the engine block.
After driving today I noticed vibration in the steering wheel and interior when at idle but the vibration at speed seems to have smoothed a little.

Recieved my order the other day, got the lower mount for myself and the 06 upper mount for a local friend, they look great and hopefully installing them this weekend! Will be removing my powerflex mount inserts for the lower mount and gear box mount as well as removing my VIP Stabilizer Link, the vibrations for me in the cold are starting to make things rattle and it's getting to me! I'll eventually replace with all VT mounts once my newer OEM upper mount fails... which we all know it will
Thanks again Colin! Very easy guy to work with, very flexible and everything went as promised!

My Vibra Tech mount is in
Looks like drdave and I are running parallel lives. I just installed my Vibra Tech mount yesterday and I can say ditto to drdave's observation. One item I would like to add is that when I first drove the car after the installation, there was a lot of vibration, especially at idle in the steering wheel. I took a long 250 mile trip to visit relatives for dinner and noticed that at the end of the trip, the vibration at idle was greatly reduced; so there is a break in period to allow the rubber to seat.... Overall, the handling is improved, especially when hitting the throttle on turns. The one downside is a bit more noise at idle.... Just my initial observations...
Colin, I conversed with you on the mount but did not get it from you (but should have). I explained it via private message.
Spirit16. Good to know that the vibration at idle will eventually smooth out. I have only put about 30 miles on it at this point since I drove the hot rod to work today.

Depends on how much you drive, the break in period can be a few days to a few weeks.
usually its about like you noticed 250 miles.
Dr.Dave, now i remember. Its no biggie, let me know if you ever need anything in the future.

As the weather warms up here in connecticut and the northeast, my bitching and moaning about my TSW mount is fading away. So now I'll sing the praises again, the way it improves all aspects of my car's handling, and its NVH is small enough to hardly notice. In fact, it adds a more raw sports car quality to the MINI. I just wish it was convenient to swap it out from october to april......

I have had my VT mount for about 8 months now. Initial vibration has settled down significantly. Jan at RMW did raise my idle speed up to about 1050 when i got my Dominator cam, 450 injectors and tune. I still get some vibration but not near as much as when it was new. It does pass the wife test now.
I would recommend buying it from Colin. I had not met Colin yet when I got mine and it was a pain to get it from the UK. A month after I got it a bill came in the mail from Fedex Charging me additional VAT. That sucked.

I can get one on eBay, but at a high price, around $230 or so. I'm at 93k on my mini, with what I think is the stock mount! But, I've also had an engine damper for some time, forget which one, it's the one that bolts right to the engine, then to the frame. An older model, but it works great! Just a pain in the *** to remove if mini does any work that requires its removal.
Colin is showing as "banned" - can we still order mounts?
I need a new top and lower mount. I broke a header flex joint at the track due to sloppy motor mounts. Top is pre-failure (not leaking, but not very tight). bottom dogbone is torn.
I have a BSH lower mount but it makes way too much NVH, especially at idle after the car has warmed up.

I would guess that it had something to do with NAM vendor membership.
