cai + 15% pulley package

I have a 2003 r53 w/44k on it, and an unmodified engine. I just ordered an m7 Cai & a way motor works 15% pulley package and am looking forward to the extra power & whine! What I really want to know is how much more power should I really expect, I have seen so many different answers out there, I don't know what to believe (I have searched all around this forum). If anyone has similar mods, please share your experiences with me. Also, are there any common problems I should anticipate as a result of these two mods? Ive heard other members talk about pinging, but I am unfamiliar with that term...thanks!

the truth is that output will vary. Visit our there are many posts here that dive deep into that question.. In fact one challenges the validity of the data presented.

As for the upgrades.... The 15% pulley should yield 15-20 additional Whp. The CAI another 2 mybe 3, although ALTA claims I think up to 6 between 4K and 6.5K rpm... So overall your looking at a solid 20 who gain.

I am speaking purely based on research and opinion. I am getting the WMW and DDM setup shortly myself.

I just put the Alta 2.0 CAI on our 05 MSCa (with the stock elbow) and it really does make a difference over about 4K RPMs. Yes, part of it is the new soundtrack, but when you look at the OEM airbox you feel a little sorry that you have been denying your car so much air for so long...

Enjoy!

I have both of these Mods on my car,but I dont think the HP numbers are as high as some say they are. Either way the car is more fun to drive, and sounds much better, plus when you go past someone with the Supercharger in full song, the look on there face is priceless
Good luck with it

The "sound" of the pulley is awesome! (with the DDM, it sucks air from the vent under the windshield) If you have your window down/cracked you hear the "whistle" from 2500 to 4500 RPMs and a "pop off" when you shift. I cant say I gained HP, but I think I have better pick up. My niece's boyfriend drove the MINI after I had the pulley installed, He kept saying He wished his civic had the power the MINI was getting.

From all the research I've been doing lately and the feedback from pro tuners, The main benefit is a louder SC Whine.....but not necesarily power. The power gains can be seen from similar material drop in filters, and at a fraction of the cost. I am going to try the Mini Mania foam filter $30 drop in with my 15% reduction pulley and see how it goes....maybe down the road I may change my mind.....but for now not touching the CAI.

I'm still not convinced the the CAI's are truly adding more benefit over a drop in filter that reduces restrictions.
