Used JCW intake / air box worth $200 or so?

Looking at a used one for an 03' Mini S..."Has all the wires and plug ins".

Wondering if I should go this route OR an Alta or other...

Thanks in advance,
Mark

The sound between the JCW box & an open CAI are similar in tone but the difference in where you here the sound, pull the back flap out of the box and because of its location the sound tends to resonate into the cabin more, instead of under the hood.

Thanks...So if you had the choice, would you buy the JCW or an Alta or similar.

I know the performance gains are minimal, but would like some nice sound AND the best HP gains possible.

Personally I haven't seen a JCW intake being sold cheaper than $300... I'm not sure how but apparently its a ripoff?
Also I doubt that a cold air intake will add a noticeable gain in HP

The JCW is great for the stock look and if you have to worry about emissions testing. If hooked up the flap opens at 4500rpm. I removed the flap and find you don't hear it till then anyways, so I don't see the point. I went with the K and N filter rather than the stock paper, so if you add that on much more expensive than the Alta , but I like the stock look.

Also don't forget the added maintenance involved in an open filter compaired to an inclosed unit, it's not that big of a deal but an exposed filter just naturally gets dirtier.

I know people will argue the point but I always considered a smaller flow of normally cooler fresh air to be better then a more open flow of warmer air from under the hood.

Just me.

Thanks...Don't think it's a rip off as the seller gave me multiple phone numbers are wanted me to pick it up in person...Also a real e-mail acct. and not a yahoo, etc.

I told him I would need it shipped...

I may go with a DDM...

I love my DDM and the fact that it's enclosed. While the look is obviously not stock, it does have a classy look and that it fits right in.

If its the one I saw being sold, it will need a new filter the JCW filter looked pretty cheesed out, a new good one say from Helix etc is like $60 or more add that to your purchase price. outmotoring running a sale on brand new ones for $380 right now. I would recommend the DDM also.
