Cam shaft help (which to buy)

I was looking at the NitroStick NS1 or NS2 Cam Shaft because i see a lot of people are using them and because of price. Would you all agree to get one of these? I'm open to here whatever you suggest, even a different brand. But please keep in mind I need something in a lower price.

Thanks everyone!

Look into RMW products as they have 4 choices at the moment I believe and you need to match equipment and purpose to be happy. Some cams give more midrange for day to day driving, others are meant to be reved constantly to get the most out of them like on a track. I have the street CAM and am very happy with it. They have a new one I might have chosen, but it wasn't offered back then. It is in between the street and Grand AM cam. Folks are saying good things about it.

Generally speaking I have found that buying something because it is cheap never has good long term results.

Call Jan and he will help you in figuring out which is the right cam for you. Best cams on the market now.

Just installed an NS1 yesterday. Should of done this years ago. Use to have a Newman, removed it due to issues from it.

To clarify, I do know now why my R53 hated the Newman. Others have ran it with no issues. But once removed everything was back to norm.

Would you care to share what the problems were with the Newman? Also could you compare the NS1 with the Newman especially in terms of low/midrange torque.
Thanks, Steve

had my newman/rmw street cam in since november/decemberish.
no loss of low/midrange that I can tell and it pulls a lot harder starting at around 4k rpm.

That's on a jcw200 tune. i'm waiting to get my header and injectors before getting a better tune.

9/10 it's not the cam it's the individual ECU, for reasons that have yet to be determined, some ECUs just don't like some Cams, there is usually no rhyme or reason to it, you could most likely put that "exact" Newman in a different car and it would react differently, no-one has really figured out why or when yet, but the '05's and later seem to be slightly more tempermental, the only thing that seems to be consistant are the problems that you may have, usually miss-fires & loss of compression due to over fueling, honestly the only thing I've found is you just have to try and see what happens.

Personally on reputation alone you would have to give the nod to anything Crower would be involved with, and I say that even after having problems with "My Car" and my NS2.

When I did all of my resarch because of my problems the only thing I really wasn't able to determine was wheather or not an Adjustable Cam Gear would have any effect on a troublesome Cam / ECU combination or not, I may experiment with that over the summer since I'm planning to get an ACG anyway, if I do I'll def. report my findings.

What other mods do you have? I'm interested in a little more pep than my 15% + CAI set-up, but it seems like all of the next steps require tune+injectors and I just don't feel like dumping a whole bunch of cash on a car I probably won't have for more than another year (will get a BRZ).

Ive been running the RMW street cam now for over 70k miles and it hasnt missed a beat...ive had it so long ive forgotten what my mini is like without it ...and yes the Street Cam v2 gives you a bump in mid range tq/hp from the v1 but not so much that it makes me want to upgrade...ill wait until its time for grand-am engine

You might want to talk to someone who has dyno'd the various cams. It may very well make your choice easier, especially an S.
