I'm getting the 15% done in a couple weeks. Dealer installed for 570 dollars. They will honor my original waranty and cover all their work.

I chose the 15% pulley because I'm not sure there's enough data out for the other pulleys. JCW chose the 15%.

I'm not sure how long the supercharger will last at those rpm's.

So, any dyno graphs out there for the other pulleys?

Anyone get any IAT's with the other pulleys?

TIA

I didn't get it in writing. I may ask them to do that.

It's Mini of Sterling - in Virginia USA. They have a race team and mainly use Mini-Madness products. The car isn't covered by BMW/MINI but will be covered by their dealership. They've been doing this for a while. Before the JCW package even came out. It's dealership packages that can be added onto the car all at once or a la carte.

It was an impluse by, really. I'm taking it in to get the coolant tank replaced (leaking of course) so I told them to go do the pulley. I was thinking of driving up to Pennsylvania - Helix - but for a 150 bucks more or less they will still honor my warranty. Worth the peace of mind.

Here is from when I dynoed my car months ago with w 17% pulley, JCW exhuast and k&N typhoon intake.

Well here it finally is.

Here are my Numbers:

Air Intake Temp: 81 degrees
Coolant temp: 181 degrees
Peak Air Intake Temp: 161.6 degrees
Air temp: 57 degrees
My mods: 17% helix pulley, JCW exhuast, K&N typhoon intake

Fuel /Air Ratio graph

Sorry I do not have a better picture

The purple line is my Air fuel ratio during the run. The flat Orange line is 11 to 1 AFR. You can see during the run that my AFR is at 11to1 and even dips below it. It curves upwards at the end when we let of the gas and put the car in neutral. The Wideband O2 sensor was placed at the tailpipe. It would read about .5 richer if it was placed before the catalytic converter.
Air Fuel Ratio: 11 parts Air to 1 part fuel CAN WE SAY RICH!!!!!!!!

Air temp: 57 degrees

vdub - Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out how much hp i'm leaving on the table by choosing to go with the "conservative" 15%. If it's a matter of 7-8hp and 7-8 ftlbs trq then it's not a big deal to me.

Other mods can be done to make up that minimal a gain. I understand the torque has shifted and that it comes on earlier, but I like to keep it up in the rpm band anyway - so I'd probably be all right.

Thanks and keep it coming...

Really? I'd kill for those kind of gains!

Those are the numbers Helix has seen.

i know vdubdoug has a 17%. But the title of this thread is "Any dyno numbers for 15%, 17% & 19%?"

just making sure that it was noted as a 17%, it was be stated that a 19% only makes 3-4 hp and 7-8 ftlbs more tha a 15%, thats not true.... a 17% maybe not a 19%

Caddman,
I have read your posts about gains with a 19% reduction pulley from past threads and they are duly noted.

Eric at Helix13 is of the opinion based on multiple dyno tests that the 17% reduction pulley makes only small gains over the 15% while the 19% pulley makes 3-4 hp and up to 7-8 ft lbs more than a 15%. Personally I think it is about 6 ft lbs. but results do vary from MCS to MCS.

Got ya Caddman. But according to Helix results (as Minihune stated), those are their 19% pulley results. I think the dyno was from warmer weather in the fall, so maybe in the winter there's more than 8lbs of torque. I'm not going to argue b/c it actually does feel like more.

Caddman - thanks for the link. I didn't find that one when i was searching.

This is my daily driver so I'd like to keep it as reliable as possible. i feel the 15% with a good ecu setup would be perfect for me. I'm waiting for the GIAC load to come out before I look into the ecu arena.

I just want to reach the 200 fwhp mark. I figure with the above - intake, exhaust, and maybe a header down the road - this is achieveable.

Once that's done I'll concentrate on making the car lighter - rims/wheels/weight saving measures/etc...

I can't even begin to imagine what this car will feel like with an extra 30-45 hp with the trq to match on tap.

If a Mini dealer will warranty (in writing) the entire car after running a 19% pulley and you don't do it (IMHO) you are being foolish. That IS the best deal I have seen mentioned on this site. Almost worth moving to VA. (:

If for some reason you don't like it you can always fall back to a larger pulley. If you will like the 15% you will orgasm over the 19%. And you have no risk.

Ah, but the dealer won't put a smaller than 15% pulley and warrant it on the car.

Now, the dealer in question has a race-prepped MCS that they race - sponsored by Mini Madness, so if Mini Madness were to come out with a pulley.....

I'm happy with my decision. Remember this car is my daily/beater/fun as hell toy.

I have a supercharged M3 for the oh #### giggles....

Talk to madness, they may be coming out with one, im not sure, Alta has one now, helix, randy is testing one(i think he may be converting but not sure), and of course i have one, if you can get them to warrent a 19%v that would be awesome, but at the same time get what you can get them to warranty that is a good deal even if you settle with the 15%

LOL!

I'm a right now kind of guy. I've waited patiently for a year and 3 months to begin the modding. I wanted to make sure the car wasn't a lemon (first production year etc...) before I went crazy.

I'll be satisfied with a nice ECU solution and the 15%.
