For those of you who have the helix ss. Do you notice added road noise when driving.[Ihave heard a cover piece can not be put back on.] Is the road noise really that bad that you wish you had not done the ss in the first place. thank you; Bleecker

I've got the B&M SS, so I didn't ahve to remove the shifter casing cover, but I can't imagine there would be any added road noise, because the heat shield would still act as a barrier. Eh, but what the hell do I know?

No added road noise. The again, you are talking to someone who has changed to an aftermarket exhaust & intake and drives at WOT...

Same here, no added road noise with Helix SS. Granted I've got the Magnaflow and Randy's air-box modded rogue intake.

I have the Rogue ss which is very similar to the Helix. I don't notice any added road noise. The only change would be leaving off the plastic cover and that could not have been much of an insulator for sound.

hmmm....i haven't done this mod YET, but I can't see how there would be any significant rise in road noise.
Like others have said, that heat shield is still in place.

I was going to see if I could modify the plastic cover that gets removed so it could still be used. Has anyone done that?

MINI Mania's SS kit comes with some parts to mod the cover. Aside from that it is identical to the Helix. Mini Mania's is $89 however. Is $50 worth the cost of the cover, I think not.
