Catless DP mod to make 02 sensors believe to have Catalytic Converter

So I have a Invidia Q300 Exhaust system and I am looking to purchase a Riss Racing downpipe, however I am most definitely going to get a CEL since it is a catless DP.

However, my buddy that drives and EVO 9 was talking about a "bung" which is available for his car, BMWs, Soobies that connects to the O2 sensors or at least the 2nd/after cat sensor and makes them believe that the cat is there so that you don't get a CEL. Looking to get some info on this mod if it is available for the Cooper S R56. Has anyone ever heard of a mod called a "bung" that is used for this type of work around?

By the way, if I am not able to purchase the RR DP what other DP do you recommend for the R56.

As I said in our PM....o2 sim's and o2 extenders will not work for the R56. People have tried with no success.

You're going to have to get a tune to get the most out of a catless DP anyway, so kill 2 birds with one stone there!

Just figured I would open it up to the community and just hear on what they have to say as well, but I definitely appreciate your input. So is the tune to get the most out of the system performance wise or just to not get a CEL or both?

Yes, Thumper is correct.

are YOU the one whos bidding on the ebay one right now??? if you are... GRRRR its on. LOL

And if so, you should avoid the CEL and wait till you get a tune, (which would run you another 900 for the accessport), and let me scoop this one up since I already have a tune =D

I am actually not the one bidding on this DP, seems to be someone else. So you got a tune and now you are trying to get this DP from ebay. Did you use the alta accessport for your tune and what map did you implement so that you will not have CEL when you install the DP?

Let me just say $169 for a DP when that originally cost 299 or 399 is a steal. Maybe I should just bid on it for kicks.

With out any cats 2.5 inch is plenty big for the R56 and almost any turbo that should find it's way on it. If you don't have a 3" exhaust then I would say yeah don't bother with one, but if it's on the car then just use it. The 2.5" DP provides more room usually too so it's easier to use the factory heat shields.

There-in lies the problem itself....

There is no point of having a 3 inch exhaust

It won't hurt, but it usually wont help either. There typically is no advantage to running 3" over 2.5".

lol was wondering when this would come in.
::

and yes, all 3" will do is cause more resonance, aka more dronez

and to answer OPs question, I don't have an accessport, i'm dynotuned via dimsport. My map does not ignore the cat right now, but my map will be modified to fit accordingly after swapping.

If you're still running stock exhaust, and want cheap, look @ the OBX on ebay, DP is 150, catback exhaust is like another 250 i think, so 400$ for a turboback that'd end up being a bolt on is as cheap as it'll get.

Not to get into a political debate but come on lol

Seriously, I get 30 mpg (when I don't floor it ) and the amount of pollutants coming out of a 1.6L 4 cyl ULEV vehicle is negligible. I'm sure a riding lawn mower pollutes more than a catless R56

Same price as a normal tune

You are going to want a full tune to take advantage of the catless DP anyway

yea, but how I am going to get a tune if [removed] from RMW is in California and I am in Maryland? (I not exactly sure who said it, I think maybe Thumper said it) You have to rip out the ECU and send it to [removed] so that he can put a map on it and then he has to send it back. I wonder how long that is going to take...? 1.5 weeks min. plus how do I run my car when the ECU is missing. Or am I wrong. I think I am just lost. Do I just pay for a map and he sends it and then I implement it into the ecu. How do I implement it? I am all new to tuning.

1. How to get I get a tune?
2. How do I install the tune?
3. How to I know what tune to get (specifically give myself more HP for my Invidia Q300 system and making sure that my CEL never lights up for the Ragazzon DP I am getting)?
