Drivetrain Injector upgrade... strait up
Injector upgrade... strait up
Guys,
I want to upgrade my injectors and I see there are several options out there. I'm on a tight budget and want to make sure I make the right decision.
So far I've found OEM JCW, Remanufactured stock (by m7), Siemens, Bosch, ebay (small brands)...
The mods I have so far are: CAI, 15% pulley, MSD coil and wires, m7 thermostat, one ball. I am planning to add: header, catback, 0% crank pulley and a custom tune at some point.
So basically, I understand the mods I want to end up with do not have super high flow demands, and I want to buy something that will work fine until I get my custom tune, which I want to do at the end.
Last, I would also like to consider some used, low mileage 380+ injectors, weather they are JCW or other reputable brand. Would this be a mistake? Would I be at risk to get worn out parts??

The jcw ones are the ONLY ones that can work without a tune....
the extra fuel flow they provide is pretty modest....
They are oem quality/price, and the correct spray pattern+plugs.
others can work...
Just stay away from the e-bay redrilled/laser cut/etc ones....mostly junk...stick with a known brand/vendor that knows what works in a mini.
With your goals the rmw injectors would be good....fuel for future mods....but require a tune....as do all injectors bigger than the jcw's...
some say the jcw+15% is a bit too rich no tune...
It seemed pretty good with the 17% no tune....and got better with a tune from my experance, and with my mods, could have used a bit more fuel...
But for my goals, I got what I wanted, and am happy....better mpg, more power+tourque, improved drivability, and no worries of running too lean/rich and the associated issues.
The tune was hard to justify $$ wise, but I am happy I did it.
