Working on my 12 month mod plan and a crazy idea came to me. What if I installed the water-meth injection system ASAP as insurance here on out for any future mods. I know my money, do what I want, but doesn't it seem logical to spend the $500 on the WMI before pouring in the following $2000 of bits and parts?

Has anyone done a WMI system yet? They seem to be very popular with other turbo'd cars.

 

I had a meth kit on previous car(335i), and it was by far the best modification I had done. It was also one of the final mods I installed. Thinking back, it should have been the first mod. Not sure how popular it is with the coopers, but I would say do it. I'm seriously considering it for my next mod. Eventually I would imagine that tuners could really take advantage of meth tuning for our cars. It's like running race gas all the time. Plus you have the added safety margin also.

Yep on an R56 you need two mods, a tune and a water/meth kit. Those two will get you most out of your car.

Did a quick search but didn't see anything about your thoughts about the meth kit?

I am curious though how does it handle freezing temperatures (i.e. winter)? Going to read more about this but I assume 50/50 meth/water would not freeze.

 

Most people will run at least a 50/50 mixture of methanol and water, so the fluid won't freeze. Just a side note; I've experimented with ratios between 50/50 all the way up to 100% methanol and I have to say my motor appears to love more methanol.
