If you guys want Magnaflow exhausts...

The best way to go is custom. BostonR56S got his exhaust custom built on the cheap.

I'm picking up mufflers and tips for my Clubman S. The way I went, parts ended up being less than 200 dollars. The best place to go is
"performancepedder.com". (A single muffler and tip alone would throw you over 200 at most other places)

If you find a decent exhaust shop (and not even custom exhaust, just a ma and pap shop will do it, and on the CHEAP), you SHOULD be able to get a decent deal out of it. Once I get the exhaust put in this weekend, I'll post sound clips, and people in the southern New England area can PM me for details if they are interested.

Just a note, its www.performancepeddler.com
I got out the door @ 350$ I believe, all set and done, 150 for muffler and tips, 200 for pipes and install.

I have vids on my youtube, akakong88
but I'm at work and cant access the links to post them here.

Good luck! Looking forward to the clips

yeah... also give them a call instead of offering your own price online. The salesman will give you the best price.

2 MAG12226 mufflers. 2.5 center inlet, 2.5 offset outlet, oval. It's going to sound nice and throaty

Did you change out the mufflers and tips only, or did you also elimate the resonator (tiny as it may be!) as well? The JCW kit at the dealership is two mufflers and a resonator delete pipe, along with an air filter and a mild tune. I agree with you, whay change out perfectly good stainless steel pipe; just open up the mufflers.

Where's your sound clip?

If one would pick the 6" round, would you want the 14 or 16" length? What would be the difference?

Boston,

How bad does your custom kit drone on the highway? I do a ton of highway driving and am curious. With all the wind noise I doubt it would matter.

I saw your videos before I ever bought my MCS, and never knew you were on here. Haha. I love the deep throaty sound of your setup.

Thanks to BostonR56S I pretty much have the same exhaust setup as he does. With that said, As far as my ears are concerned I don't really have any or that much drone. From 2.5rpm to 3rpm it can get loud and to some people might sound a little drony, but really it's not that bad. The only thing I recommend when getting it installed is to get it installed at a shop that has a mandrel bender or buy the mandrel bends you need for your exhaust from a place like exhaust depot. I will probably be taking some videos of my exhaust too in a couple weeks.

Nice. I am definitely interested in changing my exhaust at some point. I also did not want to spend a ton of money. Thanks for all the info!

Another question or two...

Do you and Boston use the stock DP?

Also, I love the Magnaflow tips, but could you simply have the shop weld the stock ones back on? (Money saving thing...haha) I don't know if the new system adds any length to the system...

Ya I use the stock DP because going no cat will give cells that I don't want to deal with and changing to an aftermarket cat(that will probably give a cell anyway) does not really give you any performance gain.
You might run into a problem trying to put the stock tips back on depending the size of piping you use. The muffler shop could probably make it work by using a sleeve or a metal expander. The muffler shop used a metal expander on my tips to make it fit on my 2.5" muffler because the tips went from 2.25" to 4". Also, the sound and or drone issue might change for better or worse if you use the stock tips. Plus, aftermarket tips are not super expensive.

Thanks!

The tips are not a huge deal. The cheapest ones I have found are about $60 a piece. I think I might start calling around though and see what folks can do for me.

Sorry haven't been back on this thread in a while. Yes, stock DP with stock cat. The tips cost me 60$ for the pair I believe, check the link I mentioned way earlier in this thread, and give em a call, never pay the sticker price for it, you'll get it for almost 40% less.

Wow, just found the old video I took of my Rio with a Magnaflow 14815 and 22" resonator, both which I got from performancepeddler.com.

I know it is not MINI related, but at least it is a 1.6L four, right? LOL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ctZmOFL5nc

Kinda makes me want to put one on my MINI now...

Not 100% sure, I do know that some little things are different fitment in some cases. Either way, anyone have part numbers from the parts on their olds MCS?

Im guna get a magnaflow muffler and just go straight from the cat back.
One question, I hear we have 2 cats on our cars but only see the 2 oxygen sensors by the first cat by the turbo. The second "cat" is down before the resonator. Can I just remove the cat with no oxygen sensors and go from there or should I go after and remove the resonator? I dont want any CEL's.

Anyone recently bought a magnaflow from this site? If so what price did you pay?
