Hey,
I recently had the Alta pulley, and intake installed, and a few ignition tricks. I love the car, but now I have noticed some acceleration problems. When I took my mini in for service today, the worker was testing it out, and when he came back he also said that there was a problem. He knew the pulley and intake were there, and he said it had great power, but he said that I need an exaust to let some of the air out. I am leaning torwards the magnaflow, but what do u think?

Could it be your "ignition tricks"? Ask minihune - I heard he had to take his aftermarket ignition out after he had his pulley installed b/c his MINI wasn't running properly.

I also doubt you have a exhaust related problem.

the "ignition tricks" that I have are a new ignition coil, and spark plugs nothing too much which is one of the reasons that I have ruled that out, I may be wrong, thanks for the help so far. The tech. at the dealer made the point that the car is sucking a lot of air with the intake and pulley, and it has no way to get rid of it all, could that be a part of it? I'm not to good with this kinda stuff, thx much

Hi I have a MCS 2003 with pulley by Randy, Alta Intake and Magnaflow exhaust and the car runs great with no problems in the acceleration. Yes you need a Exhaust that will help your MCS get rid off the extra pressure.

The magnaflow sounds great with this combination.

that's what I'm thinking cooper44

--->SuperMINI03: what do you mean "accelleration problems", can you be more descriptive so we can be better helpful?

Also, your MINI tech is a moron, having stock exhuast vs. aftermarket has nothing to do with anything It's appauling the Tech's aren't more intelligent about automotive systems.

I had just an intake and 15% pulley for 15k miles with the stock exhaust with no problems whatsoever. Again, the tech doesn't know what he's talking about. Sure you'll gain more power by letting that air flow through faster, but having a more restricitve exhaust like the stock one will not cause throttle problems. No way. So the Magnaflow won't fix your problems. And I'd get it fixed before I would mod any further.
