1/4 mile times and mods?
I know this was a thread before but seemed to die off pretty quick. I was just wondering what everyone’s ¼ mile times were and please list your mods. I know most people don’t really drag these cars but it would be interesting to me. My friends that race mustangs and bikes don’t think that my car can run in the 13’s and it’s too cold and here to test it probably till the end of May. I'm curious to see what everyone has come up with and where I migh be my mods are in my sig below.

Front wheel drive "Sucks" for drag racing.
If you run your friends Mustang from a roll on about 40MPH up you will probably kill him.
From a standing start He will be gone while your front end is lifting and spinning.
Front wheel drive cars just can't get off the line like a rear wheel drive car will. A Mustang with the live Axel is still a top drag racer.
I once ran a new Mustang GT with my JCW from 70mph to 125 or so and beat him very bad. I would never ever even try it from a stand still.
Besides, the first gear ratio on a mini is way to low and useless for drag racing. You will be shifting as soon as you dump the clutch. ( I would think an auto transmission would be better then a stick for drag racing)
The great thing about your Mini is the cornering. Very few cars can keep up with you on a curvy road. (As long as you know how to handle your car and are knowledgeable in how the front wheel drive reacts at very high cornering speeds.)
You also need to know that the "Torque steer" is not going to bite you if you just hang onto the steering wheel. When you get used to your car you will see how truly great the Mini is.
Sign up for a track day with an instructor and you will find it is worth every single dollar because you will learn your car in a safe fun environment.

Ronnie948, thanks a lot for the info, I have noticed some of those issues already I'm thinking about doing some suspension work next springs and the nm arm insert for the torque steer and might help grip a little better.
Slinger688, Wow I'm not sure how I could have missed that lol but thanks that defiantly is what I was looking for.
STi2Mini, i do want to road race it but their are not many places to do that around Chicago but whenever i get a chance i will be road racing! Thats why i got the car i just want to mess around with some of my buddies.

Around Chicago there are a number of different road tracks: autobahn, road America etc. Plenty of places. Take a look at this: motorsportsreg.com, register for free, choose HPDE and put in your zip and 240 miles radius and all the tracks will show up.
I do not know anything about drag racing but road tracks are a whole lot of fun.

My 2009 Auto Mini Cooper S Mods in Sig
Best Drag Time
60ft 2.3085
330ft 6.1078
1/8 ET 9.2516
1/8 mph 77.65
1/4 14.2525
1/4 mph 96.48
This is with a strong head wind, Mini was 75% full of gas, and it was about 85 to 90 degrees the whole day. I was also on crappy run-flats. I am sure I can get in the 13s next time I go. This was my first time to drag race with my Mini tuned so it was a learning experience for me.

13.8 @105mph.
Traction was a big problem in 1st and 2nd. I think low 13"s with drag radials and a locking Diff. I started out at 15.5 and ended up in the 13's after 4 runs. The key was a really good burnout to try and get traction. I was doing 2nd gear burnouts before I got into the 13's. Don't do this. The clutch doesn't like it.

I sure like the new Mustangs.
I think they look great and sound perfect. They are fast and just plain nice.
I also like Corvettes, Porshe's, Audi R-8's and GT-R's
I still love my 2009 Factory JCW and it is as good as anything on the road. It is Fast, Fun, and Comfortable. As far as a Drag racer---No Way-- as far as a road racer or Auto X --YES-YES-YES.
These are all good cars and as far as street fun the Mini is a top pick.

+1 on autoX
+1 on novice/inter track beyond that you will need lots of mods. And you will not keep up with HP.

HP is useless when taking off the line. The weight to torque ratio on a mini far exceeds that of a v6 mustang. Hp is for top end, torque is what gets you going
