Very true. When my Mini was still stock I drag raced my friend with a 2008 manual V6 mustang and there was no competition.

I beat him by like 4 or 5 car lengths. I ran a 14.9 and he ran around mid to high 15s

He also had a lot of trouble getting off the line.

I wasn't saying the Mustang is faster than the MINI or anything like that, it weighs a lot more. I was just making a point that the new GT has tons more power than my 15.5 second V6 Mustang, so it should be much faster.

Regarding your actual statements, the V6 Mustang Im talking about actually has more torque per lb than an MCS, and that's not really how hp and tq works.

My 2006 build MCS manual with JCW engine tuning kit did 14.5 @99mph in full street trim and runflats (no LSD either). Getting it off the line was hard, a real knife edge between bogging down and wheel spin. One day I might give the factory JCW a go (when it is run in), just to see how it compares.

Not bad when you consider my old Ford Falcon XR8 with a 5.4L quad cam V8, 350 engine hp, 383 ft-lb of torque did the same time @102 mph. The falcon has the advantage of rear wheel drive and and 4 speed auto, although it does weigh in with a kerb mass of 3750 Lb's

I still love my 2009 Factory JCW and it is as good as anything on the road. It is Fast, Fun, and Comfortable. As far as a Drag racer---No Way-- as far as a road racer or Auto X --YES-YES-YES.

These are all good cars and as far as street fun the Mini is a top pick.

I didn't think of the Mini as a drag racer either. But...after a few bolt ons and some tuning I couldn't help myself since I now have over 260ft/lbs of torque at 3k rpm.

HP Useless? HP tells you more than torque because it's essentially the relationship between torque and rpm.

HP and torque are both meaningful at any speed. HP moreso than torque everywhere, though because it gives you more information.

HP = rpm x T(torque)
5252(constant)

Right... HP is a function of Torque and RPM, so it doesn't make sense to say that there are times when torque is important, but hp is meaningless or vice-versa.

It would be nice if a mod could clean up this thread and just show posts with mods and time slips
