Is this a Stage 1? If So any good?

Which Exhaust is this?

A friend of a friend has offered it to me and has said its from and 2008 JCW.

Looks like the stage 1 but he says he's not too sure.

here's a link of what i think it is.

Any idea's what it is or whether it will fit my cooper s?

Also whether the note will be much better?

Thanks in Advance.

This back box is from the JCW kit and it will fit your Cooper S.
However you will need this: http://www.minigenuineparts.co.uk/mi...7_560_778.html
and of course you will cut your exhaust at the right place.
The exhaust note is more aggressive than the stock S part.
Also it pops more.

I Dont Think An Exhaust Alone Makes Your Car A Stage One Though .... Or Does It ?!

Thanks for the above advice much appreciated. I've been scanning through the forum and it seems the above is an after thought and that the factory JCW has larger diameter tails. Think i might have to fit it to my cooper s. Will make sure whoever fits it cuts it in the right place, probably best left for the shop round the corner.

Is there any reason why on minigenuineparts the stage 1 as per my photo is alot more money than the JCW one? Intriguing.

You'll need the tune and the intake to get to stage 1, but the exhaust will sound real nice!

Stage 1 - 2 -3

Iam not a 100% positive with the actual differences in stages as they differ from where you look cause you can jump to stage 3 directly I guess...

Check this website it shows you the package for the stages - basically as it was said to you above; a nice exhaust, upgraded airfilter and a tune would put you as fully stage 1 ... then you can upgrade to a cold air intake, IC,hot/cold tubes ... to get to the higher stages
Anyone with the invidia Q300 can complain as the exhaust to take to go with the stages ?? Q300 is the only one (price wise) that you would go for ?

"Stages" are just a marketing term. It is just a way for aftermarket companies/tuners to market different levels of performance and bundle certain products together. There is nothing set in stone which makes something a "Stage 1, 2, or 3+"...it can vary between each tuner.

However, in terms of JCW...Stage 1 is used to refer to the JCW kit which is installed by dealer. The one that comes from the factory as it's own model...is sometimes referred as the Stage II JCW or simply the Factory JCW.

Out of interest why would there be such a price difference between the two?

Thanks for the replies, Very useful by the way

One reason for the silly price difference is the limited production.
And another I can think of, is the engraved tips.
And somehow they should justify the high price of the JCW kit.

However, I think that the JCW kit's exhaust is less restrictive than the JCW exhaust because of its smaller size alone. (I mean as a box)
Again I could be wrong cause I have no experience of the JCW exhaust.
However I know all about the JCW kit's exhaust cause I am currently using it.

I've opted not to take it as primarily the Stock JCW Exhaust looks much better and although the engraving looks good the Stock looks beefier!

Thanks for the responses
