Forge IC without ECU tune

I just had someone install a Forge FMIC with NM engineering's discharge pipe. What will happen if you install a bigger intercooler without having the ECU tuned/ chipped?

Is it true that you will only experience power loss by doing this mod without the tune?

I installed a Helix FMIC w/o ECU tune ..my car seems to have better acceleration. I've not heard that performance would go down w/o an ECU tune, and I've not experienced that.

(I do plan on getting an ECU tune at some point soon however).

No...

It should still help you some. It's just that when you're tuned and running higher boost, the benefit from a FMIC really shows. At stock boost levels, not as much.

Get the sucker tuned!

When I installed mine in the summer, I could definitely tell that torque and power were recovered as opposed to the OEM intercooler. I really noticed the difference at higher speeds.

This is the question that I have and I have not seen an answer on NAM. Suppose I get a tune and then at some point go to the dealer and they need to do a software upgrade. What happens to the tune?

Then you loose the tune. I warn all my customers of this before we tune their car.

We've installed several Forge FMIC's without a tune and the customers have been able to feel the difference in a good way.

Are tunes saved by the tuner? Or would we have to pay for the complete tune again... or just dyno time? Just curious.

I save a copy of every tune I do just in case a customer has a dealer flash over it.

If thats the case, is there a way to load it remotely from another machine in my area if I got a tune? Or is it specific to a certain "tool" you have around there?

Interesting. Is there a way to save a tune by us little guys?

If we have an AP and use to download a tune to our car and the dealer flashes over it with update software, can we just get the tune back from the AP seller and download it again over the dealer flashed program or are we SOL?

So, if we have to take the car in to the dealer, what should we do before hand?

Thanks!

I had that happen and just reset my dimsport flash tool, sent jan the new stock file and he sent me my tune back using the updated software. No issue at all.
