Megan Header

I am now starting my mod saga on my R53 and have found the Megan Header. I have looked around at other headers and found nothing around that price range.
I know you get what you pay for but is the Megan Header really that bad compared to others ????

Is there another reason why it is soo cheap (inexpensive)
anyone have a sound clip to post since i am planning on making a custom exhaust and with the removal of the cat i would be afraid of being a bit too loud

ive tried the search but cant seem to find actual debates on the header.

The only thing ive seen are fitment issues but the thread was more than 2years old and i was wondering if anyone had given this header a try recently and could inform me

OBX ceramic coated header... its around the same price and its better then the megan as its a 4-2-1 design instead of 4-1. if you use the stock cat then it shouldnt really sound that much different then stock

I've had the OBX header with Stock CAT for about 3 years with no problems. I wrapped the header and the sound was only slightly deeper. I agree that the 4-2-1 design is better.

i have the megan and i have no complaints. it works. i go faster. its loud as hell. thats about it though, i would definitely recommend welding in a cat though, its soooo loud without one. if you want to know what it sounds like with no cat and no mufflers do a search for "my s00per loud mini" or something like that.

Thx i definitly will go see this thread. Is it only the header in the video?

Does the OBX header delete the cat. Personnally i would remove the cat to increase flow and for a deeper sound. Are there fitment issues with the OBX

The OBX header fit nicely on my '06S. I did the job myself in my garage with 4 jackstands. The OBX header doesn't come with a CAT. You will need to remove (cut off) the main CAT on the OEM header and weld it to a short connector that comes with the OBX header or buy an after market CAT. Of course I had to fire up the MINI after installing the header without a CAT & exhaust installed and it was LOUD!

it was a header + a resonator and some piping. i wouldnt really call it a deeper sound without the cat, but its certainly louder.

i wouldnt call it distinct, but the sound is very high pitched and just wasnt for me. When i added a muffler it fixed that problem. its still loud, but its not stupid loud anymore

OBX Just fitted

It's a weekend of updates and mods. Yesterday I fitted an OBX header. I had to replace the JCW header as it broke through at the pre cat, was a very loud drive home. Anyway the OBX slid straight in, I made up an adapter pipe & kept the rear o2 sensor fitting. It is louder than it was, but sounds great. the OBX header was an eBay special, supplied with gaskets & all fittings. I wanted to fit a Megan Header, but Way could not get any in until March.

2 reasons, the 13" gap between the flange of the header & the front flange of existing exhaust pipe work. The other was that the header finished in 2 1/2" & the exhaust pipe is 2"ish.
