My next Step, need input

hey guys so my goal is to reach right over 200whp and i was wondering if my game plan is sound? i would like to hear some input about what i have planned and weather or not its the right path for my goals.

So far i have the following installed

Alta CAI and inlet tube

Planning on getting these in next few weeks

17% pulley
Catback exhaust or one ball?... need some input here
RMW street Cam
GP intercooler
380cc injectors.. not sure if ill be losing fuel up top with these?
Remote Tune
spark plugs ... which ones are best for my application?

Am i missing anything?

thanks guys any input is appreciated

Well personally I would nix the GP intercooler and the after-market catback. The cat-back is more of a sound mod than pure power. For the price of the GP intercooler you could get meth injection.

The other items seem like great ideas. With a tune I would think 200whp is possible.

If you are getting a tune, and a cam, get bigger injectors...will be more flexible..you will be likely be limited by fuel....the JCW's are high quality, and will run ok without a tune, especially with the 17%, but for the same $$, you can get 550 injectors with the right spray pattern..one neg, if you ever get the car reflashed, it will not really run till a retune...the jcw wil let the car run fine if you get it reflashed till you restore/redo the tune.
The exaust is a matter of $$ and taste...one ball or cheaper ones will get you maybe 4-5 hp, and loose some weight, the louder or more expensive exhausts will get youbcloser to 10 hp (milteck as an example). It might not be good $$ per hp, but it is like hearing the SC whine....you love/hate the sound.
I think 200 with the cam is doable...heck, some folks get it without the cam...To get more, you would need some head work...(if youbwant to stay street legal with 2 cats).

The GP ic is nice if you have the $$...IMO it will counter-act the extra heat of the 17% pulley....in warmer weather, it will aid you in preventing timing retardation due to high charge temps, while retaining the fast recovery of the lightweight oem ..you might get a bit more timing thanks to cooler air in driving...since Dino tests are just a simulation of driving, it may/may-not make a diff...
I know of A very nice mini with an GP ic, with 380's and a 17% with JCW tune screams...so I think it helps. I am still waiting for the owner to Dino it...

Spark plugs...IMO just use the same as the jcw....I like NGK...some like brisk....
Plan on a new SC belt...535 length, and get a tennsioner stop..cheap $20 ins if the belt brakes/jumps...will save $$$.

Start with the pulley, that is by far the biggest bang for your buck.
Our pulley kit has everything you need.

Then drive the car and decide what you want next, otherwise you'll buy a bunch of "stuff" and not know what each did for you.

spark plugs, NGK BKR7EIX-11
17% for sure
bigger than the 380's, take a look here for why; FYI for 200 at the wheels, youll need 230 at the crank (not really sure what the drivetrain loss is from our tranny, but 15% is usually an acceptable number)

200hp is not a tough goal to meet, we're lucky in that our cars have good, cheap tunes available, and pretty much anything you do really adds power as long as your car is in GOOD WORKING CONDITION. so you may want to make sure theres no maintenance items to include here.

My goal is along the same lines as the original poster. I would like to bring my car up to 200 hp however reliability is more of a concern for me. I have 77,000 miles on my car and drive about 16,000 miles a year. So far, I have an Alta intake, ngk plugs, upgraded plug wires and coilpack, and a Magnaflow cat back exhaust. I am thinking about installing a 15% or 16% pulley and Sprint Booster. Any thought on reliability or whether I should make the changes?

thanks everyone so far for your input

just to let you guys know im looking to make a good reliable/dependable 200+ whp on a dynodynamic dyno.

i figured that the GP intercooler would be a good addition for the 17% pulley. it creates a lot more heat spinning the s/c much faster so i would see it benefiting from it. im not much into the meth injection as its not as reliable as a better intercooler. besides wouldn't that burn off the teflon coating on the s/c blades?

Here is the revised plan

Power Mods
17% pulley
RMW Street Cam
One Ball

Cooling
GP intercooler
DDM Works GP intercooler Diverter
M7 Ram hood scoop

Tuning & Fuel/Spark
NGK BKR7EIX-11
Bosch 450cc Injectors
RMW Flash Tool & Remote Tune

You don't spray the meth/water pre-supercharger. You spray it post intercooler. How much is the GP intercooler? If its anywhere near the price of the "Defender of Speed" A2A intercooler then I would go for the DOS for sure. Honestly I think the GP intercooler is great when it comes with a GP. I don't see enough of a performance benefit to justify the cost otherwise.

the gp intercooler is $450.. is there a better one out there for the same price?

how often do you have to fill the meth though?

ask Jan for his opinion but I don't think its worth the money. The hood scoop and diverter will make the OEM intercooler work much better anyways. I would invest that money in suspension to really take advantage of the extra power.

If you have a gallon tank it should not have to be filled very often. It depends on your driving style and at what PSI you have the system fire at.

There are lots of cars running around the country with basicly those mods & RMW tune, MINUS the cam and GP IC and are putting out 198-202 WHP.. ( stick shift cars )
With the cam you'll probably be around 208..
Check out some of the RMW tuning threads for more examples of mods and what WHP they pulled..

The GP intercooler is about the best out there, it fits perfect, does make a temp difference, and has no boost drop.

200hp is pretty easy to get with bolt on parts. Meth inj is a pain and requires constant attention so keep that in mind.
