Drivetrain WL: R53 RMW transplant
Well when you are working outside any progress is good progress in the winter. What clutch are you using, I couldnt tell from the pic?
Do you think you could make it to MITM6 this year, it is going to be at Winter park CO. again on Aug 4-7(acording to MINI5280's website)?

And I will put MITM on my calendar, I have wanted to go ever since Ive bought my MINI, but scheduling just never works out. After this build is over, I think I will be trying ALOT harder to go on motoring trips because I am going to be having so much fun driving the MINI again.
Those two little ports are just the silencing ports I thought. Does it really affect the efficiency? Im just going off what is common practice with the Cobra and lightning eatons ....
I started typing earlyer in my last post, but had to cut it short because my internet time was up, but...
Sealing the sound ports causes extra heat, but you might be able to get around some of that by porting the discharge port further back than just the little triangle in the stock case. M7 had a ported S/C listed for a while but discontinued it about the time they canned production of their larger throttle bodies. They where pretty expensive and not mutch gain in power at all, but they left the sound ports open who knows what would of happened if they welded them closed.
There are people who claim that any welding on that area of the case will warp the housing. If that where true you would be SOL and need a new S/C.
In my opinion a good tig welder and an operator that knows what they are doing can pull it off.
There are also better options if you could send your S/C away for a couple weeks. WAY at WMW can have your charger rebuilt, and in the process have it coated with better ceramic than the JCW/2005+ cars came with.
If you are still hell bent on sealing the ports, I would highly recomend running a water meth setup. Maby even a dual nozel setup with (Many people will argue this for some legitamate reasons) a 1GPH nozel pre S/C to help cool the S/C's inards.

Suggestion: let's not hijack this thread.
Past history suggests that threads were Jan hints at a new upcoming, secret, yet to be defined except to his innermost circle, uber performance increasing invention, usually get derailed eventually.
I'm waiting for Mr. R35P3CT to install and fire up the monster to see how she breathes!

not to break up the excitement from Jan's news, but i did get the limited slip installed tonight and the transmission is back on the block. Still waiting for some gaskets from MINI Mania, and then I should be able to finish everything.
Mini Mania likes to take their time, but they do have just about everything. If you ever need something in a rush give WAY (WAY MOTOR WORKS), or Chad (Detroit Tuned) a call.
I want an LSD, and a lower gear set, but I will need to peg leg it around until I can aford it.

Everything has been getting a good cleaning. Having this super clean block, I hate the idea of having all these dirty parts on it.

Hurry, my popcorn is running out...
