hope this post will help someone down the line.
J I'll be over after my wife gets home to help out.
The larger wires on the larger lug is 1) Batt to starter lead 2) Starter to Alternator. The smaller lug is momentary power from the ignition swith to the EWS to the starter. The ground is a case ground from the starter through the block and out the ground strap on the side of the block. Hope that helps.

update:
Pics to come, but I have the MINI back in the garage now and am just putting finishing touches on.
I had to put the dash back in tonight since I took it out to see where I wanted to put my gauges. Ended up getting the flexpod from Craven.
Tomorrow after work I will be finish up the interior and make sure everything is secured and tight. maybe start up this friday or something. :D

also, waiting to get my five spoke rims back from the powder coater. I ended up just doing gloss white on them since they didnt have a good looking gold/bronze color that wasnt 150/rim. Silver didnt impress me much either.
Guess I better order some different brake pads....

well still no pictures but the interior is done. Took me forever to get my short shifter in, but its in and I finished up my oil pressure/boost gauges on the inside part of things. Still have to run the line for the boost gauge in the engine bay.

I was pretty much just taking my time and didnt ever look at the time, well turns out that i decided to quit within an hour of having to go to work. we'll see how late i sleep after work and then go get some more work done.

Have you driven it yet? We are all interested in hearing how much power this beast now has and how much fun you're having driving it!

I have to go buy new bulbs for the gauges. The cover that was provided from autometer is red in the boost gauge.

He is probably run you through the "dry start" procedure.

Basicly pulling the fuel pump fuse, and cranking the engine over to circulate fluids and create oil pressure.

Ya thats what it was. I started it, but it was throwing two codes so I have not let it run for more than a couple seconds. O2 sensor code and a misfire in cyl #1. Im at work now so I haven't been able to troubleshoot anything.

O2 code is probably the header, for the misfire check the plug gap, I forgot what gap I am runing but know it is not the factory gap to get rid of the code.

I had the same problem. i was scared shitless when i started misfiring and right after i changed out my wires (I had an extra set laying around) it clicked in my head that my gas was 5 months old. threw some octane booster and new gas in and it ran like a champ.

Nice project and a great history captured here. I may be in Lincoln for a football game in September, then a drive back to CA from Snyder in a new Smeal. If it works out for our trip, I'll try and look you up. I'd love to see your car!

Jon.

Not driving. I will fly in to Omaha on Thursday or Friday, have some beers and a steak at Upstream Brewing, spend the night, drive a rental to Lincoln, watch Fresno State play Nebraska and go back to Omaha.... If it all works out, I'll drive a fire engine back to CA from the Smeal plant in Snyder the Monday after the game. I've made the trip quite a few times. What a great drive... Ya, maybe we could hook up while I'm back there sometime if not in September. I'll stay in touch. Jon.

haha yup! that was me.
It was running pretty good, up until this morning. Im not sure yet, but it wouldnt start. I have been busy all day, but there was nothing when the key is turned. But lots of power for everything else.

I probably wont look at it till Saturday night since tonight I am finishing my motorcycle up and then riding to Okiboji IA in the morning and staying till saturday for a little vacation type thing.
Here is my bike as of right now:

changing coils and plugs to try and fix a problem of cutting out while running.
