Drivetrain Is it possible to make 400+whp on a Supercharger?
YEP I am coming back on leave for 2 weeks the end part of September, and yes you are always welcome to email me Steve.
Now back to the schedualed program:
Steve brings up a good point, there have been a few companys that have tried front mount setups on M45 cars, and MOST of them HAVE had problems. Most of the problems are boost leaks due to the couplers poping off when the engine is suddenly placed into load, and the other biggest complaint is the pressure drop.
To my knowledge all of the piping for theese kits have been mostly aluminum hard pipes, and only a couple silicone couplers to alow for movement of the engine. To me it would make more sense to use more of the softer "bendable" silicone piping, or at least have more flex joints in theese setups.
As for the pressure drop, you are going to have to live with it to some degree, more piping= more volume to pressurize. Then most kits are using an I/C that takes up the entire front of the car that = a lot to pressurize. The OE intercooler works good as long as you keep air going over it. If the same size core was used in a front mount on a M45 car your cooling would be better than stock, and aditional volume to pressurize would be limmited to the piping only.
On a setup like Jans new one bigger makes since, just like the HUGE I/C's on built Evo's and STi's. The amount of boost is upped in theese cars to the point where core size dosent matter as much. (I know of an Evo in Denver running 37psi of boost.) Produsing that much boost also makes tons of heat, and the thermal efficancy of the core is looked at more than the pressure drop. Same goes for the piping, Big boost is usualy sent through the biggest pipes that will fit, most of the time it is impossible to stay with a 3" piping size throuought the entire system.
It all just comes down to another instance where you need to select the right parts for the application and, the task you are asking it to do. There is no universal setup that will work 100% with every system, And I trust Jan did his homework, and R&D.

LOL....I don't think it should be their then should it as it doesn't get that hot!!! Maybe that is a new mod for the M45
Hate to inform you..."Your not fooling anybody" LOL
I think I'll end up with a regular cover on with a RMW plaque on it
You could also lose the blue - what looks like the 1 finger salute thinglet. It's a really nice blue decorative element.... but..... Bottom line, I like it.
electric
not on the 18th as much as I wanted to watch the Nebraska game in Seattle
I have other fish to fry
yes it could run with a Cooper hood.......but since it's a GP.......that would really freak people out.......
The thing I most admire about this thread is not the interwebs banter, but the high-end power steering pump servo tank cap we can see in the photo.
DO TELL!!!!!!!
Is this a new product in the works?????????
About how much power does it make!!!!!!!
Availability????????

Could be the makings for the ultimate sleeper.

it's made of special unobtanium.......very expensive and have to be custom fit so expect a 6digit price .....yes.... for that high end power steering cap
dyno figures on this unique part are not yet established but who cares when it looks that "hot"
Expect 4-6week delivery times for the "rubber glove" looking cap......... these are very labor intensive..................
just waiting to build a fully built engine and drop one into a cooper........
now that will turn some heads at the local club run

What about getting the FMIC coated with black thermal dispersant paint?

I am sure someone down that way does this.

I've been thinking about this but haven't quite decided on what I'm going to do
