"I haven't failed, I just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
Thomas Edison

At some point when you modify anything your bound to blow one or a few because its all about pushing the envelope of what can be possible. In turn you create stronger components that can take the load. But every time you chase the next level you break stuff.

I have done it to my motor but it was all because of bad gas from what you don't see much out there in SoCal locally own mom and pop gas stations. That introduces the variable of gas quality since its not a Shell, Phillips 66, Mobil1 fuel supplied station. Then I have heard you LB blew your first Rotrex SC'd motor up.

Your making it sound like your car, and any heavily modified supercharged car that RMW has done is impervious to failure. But in truth you, myself and others have fallen to the many ways of how to blow a motor that is stock with bolt-on's, or built by whoever you want.

One more thing.....Kalbone's car has been down for a bad slave cylinder that is all and he has a clubman S as a dd. Not all turbocharged MINI's are blown up its just they see a different enviroment of boost and stress's that a supercharged MINI doesn't see.

it could easily work on the stock charger but you would still have to give up your a/c........ Graham from GRS already makes a front mount for the stock supercharger
Yes, i know i know, that picture of the engine bay looked so clean and oem i thought..

Anyway, i was thinking grs fmic but i will be just adding a meth kit very soon.

Agreed, it looked nice and clean.

A properly sized FMIC that does NOT utilize the OEM horns is the only way to go. However, for my motoring climate an AC condenser is absolutely required.

what's on the car is a 30-94 Rotrex which has a mass flow rate of .37kg/s

with longboards car we used the 30-74 which has a mass flow rate of .28kg/s

it made 350whp

as for your other question, making a fmic isn't an issue the way you describe, it's finding enough paying customers to make it........lol

the beans have been spilled... have you tried fitting a C38 in there yet, just for the r&d of "does it even turn"? (or fit)

also, where did you get the plenum?

Was the 30-84 not large enough or were you just trying to see how far you can go before you loose efficiency

not sure why you would have a car down for just a $30 part that takes 15min to change

here is another shot of what 400whp can look like

I haven't mounted the fuel rail yet as this was the first test fit for all the piping etc..........

the supercharger is the "altenator" looking piece right below the intake manifold

I still think you should just "test fit" a C38 despite it being rated for an engine 2x the size...

the compressor is bigger but the frame size is the same C30

since the compressor wheel is bigger it will flow more air and should make more power

At 350whp and 260ftlb's with the smaller Rotrex even I think Jan's a little crazy this time. Why mess with perfection .

Hey Jan,

What's the adaptor just before the Intake manifold? Is that some sort of BOV?

To me, AC is more important than 500HP. I could settle for a measly 400.

And yeah, the Rotrex does look like an alternator, or maybe half a turbo.

A good perk of what your setup shows is that it ditches the "bullhorns"(and all those 90 degree bends) for a freer flowing design, and proper plumbing. Also with your setup you could do a larger intake manifold or atleast one with longer runners (longer runner length increases TQ), there is plenty of space going up where the top mount crap was. Another downside to the GRS FMIC is the I/C core is F****N HUGE, they even admit to loosing quite a bit of boost, and taking longer than desired to build pressure in that thing.

It would realy be nice if sombody would design a S/C outlet and pipe kit for a front mount and also offer multiple sizes of cores to suit the needs of the car. (Hint,Hint Jan )

I am realy impressed by what I have seen from the pics so far, and I am hoping that it is the big ole TVS 1300 siting nicely under that manifold.

Oh a couple posts back we made history (I think), Thumper actually gave credit to Jans work, and agreed with him. Never saw that one coming.
Hey Rick, the tan??? That GRS is surface with a purpose. It's not on ask.com.... YET. If it is anything close to what I'm thinking, it will be a really good combonation with that blower. The inner core is, most likely, a finned extrusion for low restriction.

Looking good RMW, Obe 1, cast & crew.............

Hey Steve, long time no talk to. The GRS that was brought up is a FMIC kit for the stock M45, I forget what magazine I read the review in last year but, they lost like 5psi but never saw am IAT more than 2 degrees over ambient.
Its a good thought but a core that size on the tiney stock blower, not worth the loss in pressure IMHO. With this new setup from Jan it would work great but, you couldnt run the stock S/C outlet wich is what the GRS kit does.

To date, any of the front mounts for the MP45, ours, has had problems. You see a lot of big FMICs on Evo & STI around here. Then you see what's under the hood & it makes your eyes hurt. Plumbing everywhere, more bends than Lumbard St & small tubing.... wheeeuuuueeee!
Hey, you comming soon? I can write you a note.........
