I actually haven't yet connected my Accessport to my computer for firmware updates, I just unboxed it, flashed my Mini and tried different maps.

If you got it from RMW, its probably just the Alta maps on it that come stock... I called Jan and he told me that he did not add anything to the AP because he would need to know your cars specs. I am getting mine dyno tuned by him next tuesday. I agree with the jumpiness of the throttle on stage 1, takes a little getting used to.

I have to drive a bit more to see if the wandering idle is a problem or not, I can't remember if it is anymore so apparent than without the map loaded... I'll reset it and check, but have you noticed this?

Yes, I did notice the wandering idle right off the bat, and verified it on the live RPM monitoring but its not a big jump (less than 100 RPM wandering). I also notice that on going to neutral while slowing down that the engine holds RPM a bit longer than stock (hovers around 1k rpm then settles).

Yes, please change it back ASAP! Running a stage 2 or 3 map on a stage 1 car is a big no no! It could build up extra heat in your turbo and eventually damage it, since it's trying to blow more air than it physically can with the stock exhaust. If you are looking for more power than our maps provide, get a custom pro tune on a dyno.

Chris - I went ahead and emailed my info, too in case you have the fix for the 92 Octane Stage 1 map (non-linear).

Sent the email yesterday afternoon.

Mine has a slight idle bump when I'm stopped.

Would you consider a stock JCW with stock catback but with new DP and single cat stage 1 or stage 2? Myself I think stage 1,5 or something, the big restriction seem to be in the original cat?
The JCW system seem to flow quite good otherwise.

The scenario that you list is stage 1. To run a stage 2 map, you have to run a 3" turboback exhaust.

The stock exhaust does flow pretty well, but our JCW maps are designed with this in mind for the stage 1 maps.

Is it possible to have the factory tune when sport button is off and a performance tune when it is on?

I just flashed in the 91 tune in my 08 MCS and it made the car so much stronger. The pull across the power band is so much better. Does the flash affect the speed limiter?

1st time I got a CEL on the car. The code is: P28aa. Cleared by itself from the Nav screen, and then I cleared it from the car.

Anyone know what this one is? Only mods I've done are the BOV spring and I put the airbox from the JCW dealer installed kit on my factory JCW. I'm running Stage 1 92 octane non-linear map in the car.

Thanks

It has to do with a charge pressure variance within boost tables. That is the generic code. 2855 is charge pressure minimum 2856 is maximum 28aa is the "hey that wasnt quite right so let em know" code

I have a 2009 factory JCW with the JCW air box with the cone shape filter and Helix I/C and I get a P2885 (charge press control min) on Stage 1 FMIC linear or non linear map ( tried both). It clears but will come back on hard accelleration in third gear as RPM aproaches 6000 RPM. It would be nice to have a solution but for now I just shift out early when getting on frwy on ramps to avoid half engine (limp mod) light. I forgot to mention I have the Forge D/V and also tried both light and stronger spring and stronger spring seems like it might be a bit better but when I put the pedal to the metal in third gear I always get the same code as 6000 rpm aproches. BTW I uninstalled A/P and went back to stock tune and no codes but reload A/P map and get code.

Thanks Raymazing. BTW - can you go into a little more detail about charge pressure variances so that I can try and narrow down the cause?

The last thing I've done to the car was the Alta BOV spring mod. I'm wondering if I need to swap back in the factory spring, or if I may not have put things back together correctly.

Thanks

I wont' even get my car for a month, but I've pretty much read this entire thread already.

I know everyone says you can reflash it back to stock before taking it back to the dealer, and noone should be able to tell its ever been on there. And it would work for most routine maintenance or minor issues where you need to take the car in.
But I just want to know, has anyone ever been in the situation where maybe your car just dies on the side of the road or somewhere, and you need it towed to the dealer. But maybe the state of the car won't let you reflash it back or maybe you don't have the AP with you. How did you handle that?

I just want to make sure I know what I'm getting into before I buy anything, esp while in the warranty period.

Hi Alta/Chris,
Ive installed the access port on my 09 JCW Clubman and what a ride I have now. Its amazing how much more torque and HP I have now. Im another very satisfied ALTA customer. Only thing Ive run into is the minor hunting idle symptom. I get the idle fluctuation constantly while waiting at lights and driving to work/around town. Im currently running the Stage 2 map since I have cat back exhaust & Cold air intake on my JCW Clubman. Wondering if I could get a fix for the idle hunting issue. Other that that, the access port is Incredible. AWESOME

I saw a post from Alta that said that they could do that.

Technically, you should be running Stage1. Stage 2 is for a full 3" turboback exhaust. Even the stage1 tune is a big bump up over stock.

I just picked up this mini today

I've been browsing and looking at the alta accessport, and i know for a fact thats an alta intake, and im guessing that's an alta exhaust. Is there anyway to tell if there is an alta map on the car with out having to pay for the access port?

It's an Alta tube and cat back exhaust.

There is the dealer installed JCW badge on the back and I see a JCW badge on the engine (although it looks crooked?). Your programming is most likely JCW and the filter is most likely JCW.
