eliminating on muffler???

is this a smart do it yourself mod on my 05 MCS?? By eliminating one of the mufflers?
will it effect emissions and would it be too loud? it has a header and a high flow cat now...
thanx

Shouldn't effect emissions. I don't know about the noise. I have an 04 with a header, high flow cat and a single Magnaflow muffler and it's LOUD at full throttle.

Just do a search for the "one-ball mod" for all the info needed. The passenger side is the resonator and the drivers side is the muffler.

^^What he said.
I've had the "one-ball" (well, the car has) for 5+ years with no problems.
IMHO, it's the way the car should have come from the factory.

It's a great mod, which will pick up a little gas mileage and give the car an overall freer-flowing more-powerful feeling, as if it had just coughed up a lung oyster it'd been hacking on forever.... It's a little louder, but not much, and you get to hear a bit more of the throttle-off burble when you back off....

I recommend Performance Muffler on 19th Ave. and Cactus or thereabouts, right next to the mountain, on the east side of 19th--they did a great job on mine!

HTH!

C ya,
Dutch

I have race header and one ball. So just one muffler no cat. It is not loud or annoying per se. I would be lying if I said it sounded good at all rpm's. The R56 was definitely endowed with a much better exhaust note.
