Schrick 264/272 Cam

I am able to get a second hand cam of the above mentioned spec at good price. The only problem is that it already did 10 000km. Is there anything to look out for with a cam that has done some kilometers and any risks involved?
How would you rate this cam? Does the car idle heavy with it?

It should show minimal signs of wear with those low miles(as long as oil was clean). If you can inspect it compare lobe center diameters to lobe edge diameters. You don't want to see lobe centers having a smaller number.

It's a hydraulic roller cam and should be made from machined steel. Roller lifters are definitely machined stainless. Any vehicle with this combination will go into the 100,000+ mile range with trouble-free maintenance. As stated by jhiggs26, the cam should show minimal wear, with a slight pattern in the center of each lobe (going around) where the roller lifter made contact.

If it were a regular hydraulic cam, you would need to buy new lifters. However, hydraulic roller lifters can be reused with a different cam. Just make sure the rollers themselves all appear to be in good shape.

I will keep a look out for this. Thanks for all your help.
Is this a good cam? What gains could I possibly see coming from it as I already have 17% pulley, header, decat, exhaust, intercooler, tune. But I do intend on retuning it after the cam gets fitted.

I believe that is the "Schrick race" cam and it is a high RPM cam. You will lose a some on the bottom end and gain at the top. When I mean top I mean well above 7k rpm so you will need a tune to make full use of it. So all depends on what you use your car for? Daily driver, in town or part time race car? I do know that the Schrick is absolutely the best "looking" cam out there. They finish the whole cam, even in between the lobes, a work of art .

It will be daily with some fun here and there. How much power do you think ill be making with the above mentioned mods + cam and retune
Does the schrick cam really make the car feel that lazy at the bottom ? or is it only without a tune?

Any time you make a camshaft change in a computer-controlled vehicle, you should get it tuned. Unfortunately, I have no familiarity with the Schrick cam's advantages. My best advice is to contact Jan at RMW to find out more. He's "the" MINI guru.

Hard to say what kind of hp you can get? It depends on what dyno you use, the ambient temp's the day of the dyno....ect. No, it's not a complete drop off on the low end, but there are better alternatives for a daily driver I run the NS1, it is more forgiving at the bottom and I still pull hp all the way to my 7500 redline The NS1 can also be run safely without a tune, but it is best to get a custom dyno tune to use all your mods together I would guess your mods will get you anywhere from 180 to 195 whp...with a tune.

You'll be fine with the Schrick if you get it at a good price. Had it in my 03 JCW without any problems. Pulls hard from 3500 all the way up. Just make sure it's not scored.
Get a tune to get the full value of the cam. You'll see 5-8 hp depending on your car.
