I Want More HP! How can I get it?!

I pretty much got all i could think of and have read about either on the way or installed. Just purchased my Exhaust Depot DP yesterday but I have an addictive, compulsive type A personality and I want more HP! Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the numbers on my R56 I see R53 owners posting? I have seen some R53's getting crazy numbers for there mini's, like 250-300 HP! (arharharh, more power!) Any suggestions?

If you wanted huge sick power you probably should have bought an R53 and prepared to spend over $8000 in powertrain parts.

I think the highest power R56 on NAM, not counting any big turbo kit experimenters, is James Hunt's JCW. He has done everything available to the powertrain including Water/Meth injection. I also think he's had some head work done with better cams. His is around 240-250whp I think

People trying to experiment with big turbo's have been running into various problems with the ECU, even after expert tuning. In addition, at that point the limits of the internal parts of the engine start to come into question. Hopefully people with deep pockets will be able to show proof of what works/doesn't work.

I think the best advice is to be patient. The R56 is still young compared to all the wizardry done to the R53. Big breakthroughs will probably come through in the next couple of years.

Oh I forgot, don't forget to start looking at replacing heavy components of the car. Getting rid of the rear seats is a must and there are a lot of lightweight driver and passenger seats on the market. Start gutting the car and dropping weight! I think the curb weight of the R56 is around 2650lbs, and some R53 guys have their car down to around 2300lbs!

And you probably didn't want to deal with CEL's and emissions (which is probably why you got the ED DP) but if you want to get a few more HP, go catless.

I also see you don't have the DOS intake, i've seen a bunch of reviews claiming higher numbers are true with that intake, might want to look into that.

Also might want to check out the new W2A intercooler that DOS has just announced!

Remember though, hp sells cars, tq wins races. You may "only" have 215 whp, but i bet you're close to 250 wtq

Not to stir up a burning bucket-o-$h!t, But have you thought of some BIG injectors and a re-tune to run E85? Turbo's love the corn(epecialy with the high compression MINI gave the R56's)

There are no "big" injectors yet for the R56. The R56 is still very young compared to the R53.

I think there are new heads and cams that have just come out for the R56. I have not tried them but they are supposed to add lots of HP.

Well I ordered my DP from Exhaust Depot and spoke to Hector but he went MIA... No calls or emails returned and no charge on the old CC... I was hoping that with a retune from my flash tool (when ever that comes in) could net me a few more gains... crossing my fingers...

Larger size injectors, are available, however, going this route is not as easy as it seems, neither is it cheap.

I think from your sig you seem to bequite a ways from needing new injectors. Like I mentioned before, look at heads and cams which are just available.

Of course, think about going to driving school and HPDEs.

HPDE = high performance driver education which is basically track. I am glad you have your timing right. I have been around track people for many years and I do not know anyone who has it consistently.

The people most interested in injectors seem to be those that have larger turbos. With a stage 1 JCW and a few other performance parts including tune, your injectors should be within spec.

You can connect with Dustin at autoxcooper regarding heads and cams for the R56. I found out about this from him. You can also call him at (847) 265 5440.

You already have more than enough equipment to track your car, perhaps just better brake pads. Just learn more and have fun.

Well with larger injectors you would probably want to invest in a large fuel pump. Also a guy here in Jacksonville does PnP heads for the R53 and R56.

Slinger has the right idea with a new head and cams + retune. That'll make a huge gain!

Of course no one wants to go to a HPDE day! How embarrassing Just kidding. I can't wait to be able to attend one of these. There is always something new to learn and of course controlled and smooth driving, is fast driving.

Another thing that I forgot to post is that I heard stickers are worth 25hp per. So that will net you some power.
