Installing 17% pulley - problem!!!!

So my roommate and I were to the point of taking the OEM pulley off. We put the pulley removal tool on and started the process of removing it. The end of the bolt started to go into the threads, so we stopped and removed it. The threads are basically shot at this point. Does that mean I am too? I'm going to sears to buy a pulley removal tool with a swivel head, which I read in a different set of instructions after seeing this happening.

Help?

I believe you are actually supposed to put a bolt in there. Then when you go to use the pulley remover it grinds on the bolt's end instead of the threads. One of the bolt you had to have taken out in order to get to the pulley actually fits in that place perfectly. Hope this helps

Step 17 shows you exactly how you are suppose to do it.

thank you. so i did this and then as the pulley removal tool was "working" it bent the stock pulley. this is basically giving me a panic attack haha. even with damaged threads will the bolt still work? i'm about to go out and try it now...

This is a common occurance with the stock pulley. The stock pulley usually can't be reused. Mine is currently being used as a paperweight.
