Did not see the price in this link, but it appears as a potential alternative if you have the shop to support it.

Good docs in the link.

Thanks for sharing.

Maybe but it might not because of the fact that it is EU instead of US. Thats my guess

Well after creating a new turbo inlet pipe and making a custom downpipe to hopefully fit your current exhaust (might need additional fabrication to fit) it seems like the total costs of this project are hidden.

The better solution still seems to be to wait for a big valve head w/upgraded cams, upgrade to JCW turbo components, and re-tune.

sounds expensive. bv head +cam kit will run 3200 to 3700

Interesting....

There will be a turbo kit for the R56 utilizing a Mitsubishi turbo on the market shortly

It would seem to me there needs to be a lot more tuning done on that 207...the numbers are less than stellar, considering those are BHP numbers from the crank.

Oh and not to mention a more effective IC...those intake temps are rather high.

So will this kit be CARB legal? I say this because my friend is doing a STaSIS big turbo kit on his Audi as we speak and it's all CARB legal.

Unfortunately, no I don't believe so...

While it would be nice, I don't see it as a big must have. For the people who will be running an aftermarket turbo kit, I can't see them caring all that much...seeing as a good majority of them are probably running catless downpipes as it is!

With a mod like a turbo kit, 9 out of 10 people want a kit that is engineered properly, performs well, has maximum driveability and can be run safely without motor problems.

Stay away from those ebay 16gs. If you want a 16g, buy it from the best, Forced Performance.

If you find these numbers impressive, you should see what that turbo will do at 20-22psi. I have personally made over 400whp on that turbo on an Eagle Talon. IMO that turbo is too large for our cars unless you are comfortable upping the boost to 20-22psi and either way you will probably be waiting for boost on our tiny 1.6.

i still can't get in the mind set that a 16g is "too big" lol
coming from cars that run turbo's the size of ur head...

anyway.

ppl have to realize it's always a trade of.. a tiny asthmatic turbo like the stock one.. spools up fast because it's so small..

but it's little more than a hair drier up top...

if u look at the dyno graph.. you will see the power hits like a freight train at 4,000 rpm

for ppl lookin for straight line power.. that's still early enough..

by utilizing Dual Ball bearing turbos, playing with manifold design, and tuning..

u can get the spool down another 500rpm or so pretty easily..

I know what you mean. A 16g is a tiny turbo in the DSM world. The turbo I have waiting to go on my Talon is a gt4294 journal bearing.

I wouldn't mind a 16g on the mini if we could bump up the rev limiter and we knew the limit of our internals. You could easily utilize it while road coursing but I just don't see why you would limit yourself on spool up time for a turbo that really isn't being pushed at the point where we start getting uncomfortable about the engine holding together.

TD04-13T from a Subaru WRX is a much better option for Prince THP engine.
Almost the same max BHP that a stock engine can handle safely as a TD05 big 16G
260bhp, 38Nm of torque, but no lag at all.
Faster spool up and max boost at 3800 rpm
Same or more power than an hibrid Alta Turbo at a MUCH lower price.
And if you want even more power with upgraded conecting rods, TD04-19T is THE choice, 340 hp capable with the same spool up as the 13T.

TD04-13T or 15G are the right one for this engine.

Lol that post is over two years old....

I don't have the R56 anymore, so needless to say no there will no kit that I was referring to lol...

With where tuning is on the 56...you're better off just doing a hybrid with G-pop or a JCW K03S ...keep the boost ~20psi and run meth injection.

Yeah I realized like a day after I posted lol. Yeah I think G-Pop may have to get it done. Thanks.
