The flash tool works on the MINI, BMW and Porsche. The blue cable is not needed on our car. Its for use on a Porsche. Jan told me this when he handed me the tool at Helix.

Jan, you really need to spend the time to do a FAQ on your website for stuff like this.

 

I just copied my ECU to the Genius and the blue cable is not needed, although I would like to know for what application it has been made.

The blue wire looks like a ground or something. Jan said you only need it if you have a Porsche.

I am still waiting for mine too. I am pretty far down the list which may be why, and my tune is coming up in May.

I received the tool, and updated the software, so I'll plug it into the car tomorrow and check the next steps people have noted on the forum. Looking forward to the extra zoom ....

 

An update for those with a stock MCS, wondering how the "canned tune" will be:

Its great! The car feels much happier than it ever did before, if that makes sense. Its a lot of fun to be in second at 2500 rpm and get on it. Brings a smile to my face: Definite power increase, much smoother powerband. Only downside is the speed limit approaches much more rapidly now

As for non-sport mode with the tune, I don't notice much of a difference between stock and the tune. With sport mode on, I still don't notice substantial difference, other than a little bit more sensitivity.

I do recommend leaving it out of sport mode if you are looking for better gas mileage. I think it is easier to take the car into partial boost than before.

I do have a slight issue, but I'm assuming its a side effect of "canned" tune not being a perfect fit. I'm not too worried about it, and I'm sure Jan will have an update for me after this initial onslaught is over. Gotta give him credit for having to deal with 100 or so of us all at the same time

 

+1 not to mention the other vehicles this tune tool works with other then mini's

Ugh Im getting SO impatient (not Jans fault) to run the new tune hah. I already have my flash loader and the tune is ready but MINI wanted to put updated software on my ride so Jan had to send it to Italy over the weekend. I wonder if a lot of people have had this happen too?

 

for those of you who have the NEW Mini software, make sure you update your software version on the MyGenius to accept the new CRP files so the tool will write to your car.........................

Jan is working as fast as he can to get everyone taken care of. These cars are hard to tune, even at a dyno it takes a while of trying different files.
The best part is that Jan doesnt just dump you when he is done, if you have any issues you can just email or call him and he works them out with you. So if you add up all of the time for the origional tunes then add the time to work with people on an indavidual bassis, he will be at this for a while.

Jan is the new software (window fix) better \ worst? or who knows.....

 

Yeah definitely, hes a cool dude for sure and got right to my file. Within 24 hours of Paypal'ing the money for the tune he responed saying its ready but we were just waiting for the update for Dimsport.

Im just glad its not me staying up 48 hours or I would have crashed my car driving home from falling asleep

 

Jan, Is there a way to tell if we have the new software or not? I sent you my FPF file on Friday...but don't know if it's good.

I would like to know the affects of the sport button on the tune, how aftermarket parts affect how the tune is configured, when the pop & burble will be available - A FAQ would be great!

I got a replacement shock today though so it may be just slowed down. The tool is close i can feel it. I'll let you know when i get mine as yours would be right behind or ahead of it.
