It requires something that hasnt been made in a couple of years, the M7 AGS system for the r53. Dont mistake that the r56 one will fit, it wont, completely different.

There are talks about another shop making one...but yeah.

is this like the newer version of that AGS or is it something completely different? Also what about the pulleys and cai? which ones are the best, etc.

That link is for an intercooler. The AGS is an intake. This is the most recent intake that M7 sells.

for starters , the AGS in the video does sound cool . but it is not even close to as loud as it sounds in the video. they ran a microphone under the hood.
i am waiting for them to be made again , talk is still going on about the product comming back.

the first thing you need to do is get a smaller supercharger pulley and a new serpintine belt to go along with it. that will increase the whine of your car.
than a aftermarket cold air intake , it does not make a whine sound , but it will make the car sound better.
do not waste time with a new intercooler , the stock one is just fine , it does nothing for the sound of the car.

Also a 19% pulley will whine more than 15% pulley.

A lot of people with the Alta intake (including myself) do not like the whistle it makes at part throttle. However when you give it full throttle it screams hell. I was going to go with the Dinan CAI but Alta had their 50% off sale so I opted for that.

Definetly get a supercharger pulley. That will make the supercharger spin faster and combine it with an intake. We've had the best luck with the DDMworks intake.

The video had is of the old AGS for the R53, they don't make it anymore.

The best SC whine came from a front mounted IC used by Randy Webb. There were only a couple of these sold, and there are some videos on Utube. I heard it on his race car in person at about 10ft and it sounded like a 747--literally.
So, while for all us mortals, the SC whine is *not* determined by the IC, but by the pulley, CAI and how much power you're producing (my car whines like a *****)--there once was an intake system that sounded like nothing else.

A mic under the hood helps too.

will the life spam on the supercharger be affected severely with the 19% pulley? Will daily driving sub 4k ok with the 19%? car now has 56k miles.

I wouldn't go that small on a daily driver to be honest. In my opinion, 17% is pushing it on a stock IC with heat and going smaller would likely retard the timing and cause a loss of HP. Just not worth the headaches.

For a daily driver we would recommend sticking with a 15% or 17% pulley. Heck we don't even offer a 19% WMW pulley, I didn't think it was necessary to manufacture.

Thanks for the fast reply. I got a 15% and alta intake and i am planning on header, w/m injection, injectors and alta inlet hoses. I wan to go mild on the bolt ons without having to open up the motor. Maybe cams but doubt it.

19% good under water & methanol injection if i drive less than 12 miles a day without flooring it?

I wonder whats the stress or at what rpm the supercharger is operating at with a 19% @ 2000 engine rpm vs 15% or stock pulley at the same rpm? Could supercharger longetivity be improved with moderate driving and w/m to compensate for extra heat?

Most of the SC wear

is from mechanical stuff, the faster you spin it the faster it wears. What's the goal? If it's the longest SC life don't do anything. If it's gobs more power, then just know that stuff is going to wear out faster and that's the way it is. Gotta pay to play, so to speak.

What's your goal? If it's really to drive on the street at less than 4k RPM without flooring it, why do anything?

Matt

Yup, that's the one! I actually could have bought one from Randy--but in the end I was saved from a fate worse than death. I saw one on a car at AMVIV at the track, and he would make about 3 laps before the boots would fall off, and the car would limp in to the pits... There was no way he could keep the thing connected. Nowdays with the TSW engine mount and other solid goodies, it might be possible...

Yes I would love to have the AGS... However I think it would probably cost waayyy to much for my wallet so I will stick with the ALTA CAI.
