Drivetrain noob need some help alta intake check enigine light
edit:....i guess this stuff does not make a diff when it comes to the light...still worth a look!!
If you installed the silicone hose, check the connection to the thinggy that sticks out the side....and the connection to the car where you took off the cars orgional hose...I have heard many stories about them slipping off if not trimmed right, and then sucking in dirt for a long time.

Raven comes through again!!
I guess my response wasn't that technical, but heck, try running multiple windows on a I-Touch looking for diagrams!! I think between the two of us we got my point across....

The car will run fine and without a check engine light if the entire airbox and hose is gone. So you need to go back and check all the wiring connections, I'd guess something is unplugged or a wire has gotten pinched.
Without the electrical TB connector plugged in, the car will hardly run, let alone a check engine light. Check other wires in the intake region: just to the left of the intake (and to the right of the cylinder head) theres an electrical connector that sits vertically. It's the baro MAP sensor. check that it's plugged and the wires are not broken: that would cause a check engine light.
