What is top speed of MCS 05 Dinan stage 5 208 hp?

I had a run in with a deer that resulted in a total write off for insurance purposes of my 04 MCS.

However, I was able to pick up a 2005 MCS where the prior owner made a number of upgrades to the motor and suspension and claimed it is now 208 hp. He spent a lot - at least according to the receipts....

All I know is that it is dam quick and fun to drive. Anyone know what the hypothetical top end is?

Thanks

Unless it was somehow de-limited, should still be 135mph, IIRC.

Hmmm I havent hit any limiter, (not brave enough) But i thought i remembered reading somewhere that they are limited to 135 in the states, and higher (if even at all) in the Euro-Spec cars....

Upon Google-ing, im getting mixed answers.

its actually 155 in the states with the exception of the supercars as they dont fall under the mass production car laws...if it was a dinan upgrade then the limiter wasnt removed...might be worth it to put it on the dyno and see what it does

can a car shaped like a brick do 155mph with 200whp? I've done that in my turbo S2000....bouncing off the rev limiter in 6th but I had 320-330whp

the "stage 5" dinan software adds revs but i dont believe it removed the speed limiter... and if this car does infact have the stage 5 software, than it has the heavy duty fuel system upgrade as well as all of the other dinan bolt ons, apparently the previous owner had alot of extra dough lying around when he bought the thing... more importently, does the car have the dinan badge on the back? dinan only gives those to customers who have a complete stage 2 or higher

id say top speed is 155 limited, just because bmw limits most of their cars to that, and considering that DINAN is in association with bmw, it makes sense to me. Definitely put it on a dyno or a safe place and check it out!

Thanks. It does have a badge. The prior owner claimed he spent 5 or $6,000 on upgrades.

I will be bringing the car in for routine service later this week and will ask them to put it on the dyno.

Incidentally, this little shop - ENI Motorsports, in Brookfield, CT does a lot of BMW upgrades at decent prices. I just stumbled upon it a few years back, and have been very happy with them.

Probably depends on whether the 208 HP is at the wheels or engine.
Will also depend on where the Rev Limiter has been set.
If 208 HP at the engine you might get a little over 140 MPH if the Rev Limiter has been adjusted higher than stock.
My GP with stock 214 HP at the engine is spec'ed at 150 MPH. I have only gone a little over 140 MPH but there was more RPMs left to go a little faster.
Even with 208 WHP you probably will not get much over 150 due to aero drag.

My highest speed on the track is about 120. The straights just aren't long enough to max out the power curve, or to ever use 6th gear, for that matter.

135// are you sure.. ive hit 138 before.. but then it stopped.
but if ya want to go faster, put on bigger tires!
jk
but it would work.
speedo and the car would still read 135 top (or w/e)
but my policeman would see faster.

On a closed course I've hit 147 so I believe the top speed is 155 in our vehicles.

According to the speedo, I have hit 130-5. That was on a very empty 5 following a WRX and a Carrera.

My 2004 has the Dinan 5 set up and 135 is it. I put on stop tech brakes and OZ wheels. Heavier rear sway bar and a bigger cooler. Fun at Road America.

This talk of a 135MPH limit is suspect to me. At my power level I've hit 141 but ran out of runway and had to slow down. That was GPS verified.

135 on most Mini speedos is probably about 128-129 because the speedo usually read 4 to 5% high.

It may be limited due to choice of ratings of stock tires. All the dealer tire choices would need to be rated for the top speed of the car.

i am in 04 mcs with a borla race exhaust and new rims without runflats, and ive hit 130 on the highway no problem. So im feeling that a stage 5 208 hp mini can do a little more then 138
