Opinion

I've recently been looking for a "reasonably" priced exhaust system. I have the opportunity to pick up a "super sprint down pipe and mid pipe then custom piping to a borla muffler" but i'm not really familiar with the supersprint DP nor borla muffler.

What do you guys think? Any experiences with any of them?

I have heard nothing but positives about Borla mufflers/exhasut systems. I have heard nothing about Super Sprint downpipes. I would double check on the % occurence of CEL's using their downpipes. If it is Catless, count on it. Catted has a higher success rate.

I hear you can get a great deal from Riss Racing......sorry couldn't help myself...

Supersprint makes great BMW stuff and is generally well liked, I'd get that setup if I had the chance for cheap.

I'm pretty sure every downpipe throws a CEL except the exhaust depot one. Whatever, it's a stupid light. You'll make real power with a catless system

Shane,

Have you had to do a emissions test with your state air quality dept with the Cattless?

My understanding, and I certainly could be wrong, is that you won't pass with a Catless.

I have the Alta catted downpipe that throws the P0420 code, and I cannot pass my TX inspection with the light. Clearing the code requires driving around 50 miles for the emissions to initialize and then it immediately throws another code.

I am going to have to re-install the stock exhaust in order to pass the inspection.

Yeah, any catless (and some catted) downpipes will throw a CEL on a MINI. If you can deal with an annoying light, and buying inspection stickers on the black market , do it!

Last March, when I was still driving my 1990 Cadillac Deville ,I had to get an emissions test and was in Lubbock, TX at the time. When I got the test done my car was running a little rough, but did not think twice and got the test done anyway. Later, I found out that my 02 sensor was actually bad and I was running rich, but for some reason my car still passed the emissions test. I was later told by someone that in smaller cities like Lubbock, the smog portion of the emissions test is not included, which is why I passed. Moral of the story, you could try driving to a smaller city and getting the emissions test done where ever that might me. It might or might not work, but it's worth a shot.
