Drivetrain Project 1.8L Rotrex SC Stroker
2 Questions.... 1. Where did you get that CF hood scoop? and 2nd how much did you drop into that motor in $... I know, I know.. if you have to ask you can't afford it, but I really like the numbers on that dyno. Maybe, just maybe I might be able to talk my wife into letting me get 300+whp in my mini...
but I can have a dream, right?

Like Larry said, give Jan (RMW) a call on pricing.
I've been building my car since January 04. A little here a little there. Over time it's not been bad but yes, all together I've put a lot of $ and personal time into my car. I always get the "why didn't you just get a _____" question all the time. The answer is easy. I wanted a Mini
Do a search for Votageproducts. And yes, it's real CF with some black painted highlights

Hey LB you shuld bring it out to Colorado in 2011 for MITM I would love to see it aswell.
This year they are combining MITM with MTTS and I am gona miss it.
Theres always next year though.
M7 also makes ALL of their scoops avalible in carbon fiber, including the exit scoop to make the DFIC work better.

Great web Site
Great directions,
answered a few questions
just one left, Is Jan from SoCal or have I lost my Ear?
Not sure how I got Here
Mid-life crisis
I noticed you started out with a different Project NAME, This one was simple Mild2Wild.
Start Date 12/08/09, finished date the day You pry it out of my dead hands!
This has been a ride that Just Keeps Getn' Better, and with the Good Vibes coming out of the SoCal makes me remember hot knights and cheap tequilla,
first round on ME.
I still have a lot of catching up to do
Trying to get the parts and Ideas Found, delivered, manipulated and or just of my Desk and on the Road
The fun has Just begun,
For awhile
Cheers

.I will see what I can do this weekend. Hopefully the sound will record well as this thing sounds fantastic.
LB
If I remember rightly the Rotrex didn't work very well with the stock compression of the Cooper S so they had to bump the compression right up, there has never been any dyno figures off a stock head stock compression Rotrex published.
I would guess if you had to replicate LB package from stock then you would be looking at $17k +

Well if 255whp on a superflow dyno with stock compression isn't very good then
.But yes Paul, it is way better with the high compression pistons. Thanks to the incredibly low temp the Rotrex produces it allows me to run them

I read this entire thread hoping to find some sound or video! Thanks for sharing this with us... Aside from some of the drama, it's been a very interesting read on the progression...
Nice numbers LB
351.1 - I was off on my bet by 13.9 HP not bad
I want a ride
So who won ? and what charity do we donate to ??

So the basic kit picked up 24hp with the stock compression, would be intresting to see what Jan could get out of one now as he has more experience and wiser now than back then
even that kit was still the highest ever recorded Mini Cooper Rotrex kit
As with anything developmental, to get the most out of the kit it must be tested with different combinations especially when changing something as different of roots style to centrifugal. Even Rotrex was impressed with the kit back then as others hadn't even got close to that. Of course they are ecstatic now. Word is: they have a new compressor wheel coming that is even more efficient
