ALTA intake install question

Hey all,
I had my dealer install ALTA intake recently (was actually surprised that MINI dealer would install anything non-JCW), but it looks like they were lazy and did not remove the original partition - picture is attached, the partition I am talking about is the plastic piece that still sits in front of the filter.

My question is, would it restrict the performance of the intake?
I can feel difference already even with the partition still in place, but the intake is pretty quiet, you can hear it only after about 4,500 RPM.

Thanks for any input on this.

It needs to be taken out to be properly installed. You can do it yourself easily.

Take it back to the dealer and have them do it properly, show them your instructions sheet. Or do it yourself it is a piece of cake. The sound difference you will notice is amazing.

It will work either way. Alot of times when I have a customer that want the intake to stay quieter I leave it in and they are happy. It's all up to how loud you want it to be.

Thanks for the replies...I went back and told them to remove it. The technician actually had no idea that it comes off lol
It is much louder now plus I also have that famous ALTA "whistle" sound, which doesn't really bother me...yet

Quick question: does adding ALTA's box top to their intake reduce the "whistling" noise in any way? Thanks.
